One God: Father & Mother

One God: Father & Mother

First it must be said that God as God is in Godself is One, Absolute Oneness, such as we cannot conceive, and as such there is no duality in God Most High (El Elyon), and God Most High has no ‘partners,’ ‘associates,’ and does not ‘beget offspring’ in any fashion that we can fathom. As we know, however, in the Divine Action of creation, and in revelation and interaction with creation, there is an emanation of Divine Attributes (Sefirot), corresponding with various Names of God, from the Infinite One (Ain Sof), and it is through these Names and Attributes that all creation and all creatures come into being, and through which God is revealed and made known - the Word of God being spoken, the Holy Spirit manifesting. These Names, Attributes, ‘exists’ in the Absolute Oneness that God Is, in complete Sacred Unity, inseparable from the Infinite and Eternal One so that, indeed, the Infinite and Eternal One is manifest with, in and through them, and as them, and so through them, becomes manifest with, in and through creation, and as creation, which comes into being through the Names, the Attributes. This, of course, is a fundamental teaching of the Holy Kabbalah and the Tree of Life, the array of the Names, Attributes, of the Infinite One.

Needless to say, emanating from the Infinite One all of these attributes are within the Infinite One, expressing something of the Essence and Being of the Infinite and Eternal; and yet the Infinite One is ever beyond Names and Attributes, and is Concealed of the Concealed, incomparable, nameless, unknowable - Ain, ‘No-Thingness.’

Through the Names, the Attributes, we come into being, and through them God is revealed to us and we have knowledge of God, knowledge of the Word and Works of God, and the various manifestations of the Divine Presence, Holy Shekinah, Holy Spirit.

Now, abiding in the awareness of the Absolute Oneness of the Infinite and Eternal, understand that in revelation the One God is both ‘Father’ and ‘Mother,’ ‘He’ and ‘She,’ having Attributes of Fatherhood and Motherhood in relationship to creation and revelation within creation. This is made clear in the Holy Scriptures in the Name of God used in the story of creation, and more so in what is said in the story of the creation of the human being.

As we know the Name of God used in creation is Elohim, and it is used thirty-two times, which indicates the entire array of Divine Attributes. This Name of God is intriguing, for it is a feminine noun joined with a masculine plural, and as such there is a connotation of ‘male’ and ‘female,’ ‘him’ and ‘her,’ in the Name Elohim. Thus, according to this very Name of God there are the principles or aspects of male and female, masculine and feminine, within the One God.

If we read the first story of the creation of human beings in Genesis this becomes more explicit simply taking verses at their face value. There we are told:

“Then [Elohim] said, ‘Let us make humankind in our own image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion…’” (1:26). It goes on to say, “So [Elohim] created humankind in his image, in the image of [Elohim] he created them; male and female he created them” (1:27).

According to this passage as directly stated male and female, father and mother, are the expression of the image and likeness, or ‘form,’ of the One God; hence, there is God the Father and God the Mother, or the Fatherhood and Motherhood of the One God, the Infinite and Eternal.

There is, as we know, a further story given in the second chapter of genesis that ventures into the deeper metaphysical dimensions of the creation of the human being, significantly the generation of the human soul, or intelligence and life of humanity, from the Breath of the One God, or the Spirit of the One God. In this story the Name Yahweh Elohim appears, Yahweh, the ‘Eternal One,’ and Elohim, the Father, the Mother; hence, a clear statement for those with understanding of One God, Father, Mother. This plays out in the story for at the outset Adam, the human one, holds the potential of male and female, man and woman, but in fact is neither, or is androgynous; then, as the story goes on, the potential of the female is actualized and draw out, and so the potential of the male is actualized and drawn out, and there is male and female, potential father and mother, Adam and Havvah (Eve).

Male and female together, united, corresponds with the form of the One God, or complete image and likeness of the One God; accordingly, we may say that true and full knowledge of God is as Father and Mother, or Fatherhood and Motherhood.

This, of course, is an integral part of the Gnostic Christian faith in our lineage and tradition and reflects our own experiences of the revelations of God to us and so our knowledge of God - Divine Gnosis. The reality of the Fatherhood and Motherhood of God, in fact, is integral to our understanding of the First Coming of the Messiah and Second Coming of the Messiah, the First Coming corresponding with the revelation of the Father (Abba) and the Second Coming corresponding to the revelation of the Mother (Imma).

Thus in our Gnostic Tradition the One God is understood as both Father and Mother, and as such is called both ‘He’ (Hu) and ‘She’ (Hua); hence we witness the play of Fatherhood and Motherhood in creation and revelation, as reflected in the human one as male and female, father and mother.

This is not to suggest a duality of ‘god’ and ‘goddess’ as in pagan traditions, however, but rather as Divine Attributes - aspects of One God, Infinite and Eternal; hence, something like facets of an Infinite and Eternal ‘Diamond Being,’ the Holy One.

Having spoken of the Attributes of Fatherhood and Motherhood, and the Names of God as Father (Abba) and Mother (Imma) indicated in the Name of Elohim in the story of creation, I’m inclined to pause before continuing with another post concerning the revelation of God the Father in the First Coming of Messiah and God the Mother in the Second Coming.

Having received the knowledge of the Father in the Messiah, so may many receive the knowledge of the Mother in the Messiah, and so embody the Divine Fullness of the Messiah in the One God, the full Anointing with Supernal Light and the Spirit of God (Ruach Elohim)! Amen and Amen.

Shalom Aleichem!

Revelation of the Motherhood of God in the Second Coming

Revelation of Motherhood in the Second Coming

Father-Abba, Mother-Imma, these are Names of God and Attributes of God, and just as Names of God like Yah, Yahweh, El, Elohim, are used to invoke, remember, the One God, so also Abba and Imma are used by Gnostic Christians within our lineage and tradition. The use of Abba as a primary Name of God, as we know, is well established in the teachings of Yeshua Messiah that appear in the gospels, including in his teachings on invocation and prayer, such as we see with the Lord’s Prayer which begins with “Our Father,” Abba.

It is clear that the First Coming was the revelation of the Father through the Son, and this corresponds with the conception of the Word and Spirit of God in humankind, which rayed out though Messiah Yeshua to his disciples, the first Holy Apostles, and to all who turned to God and opened to the Holy Light and Spirit of God that is the Messiah, the Anointing. There was a revelation of something of the Mother in the First Coming, through the Holy Virgin and through the Holy Bride, the Magdalene, so that the complete and perfect fullness of the Divine Presence, Holy Shekinah, Holy Spirit might be made manifest, and the Human One of Light, Messiah, might shine forth in fullness - the perfection of humanity. Thus, in the generation of a new humanity, supernal and divine, Yeshua and Mirya the Magdalene are the ‘Second Adam’ and ‘Second Havvah’ (Eve), the ‘father’ and ‘mother’ of the new generation of humanity. The full glory and power of the Mother was not revealed at that time, and as we know, though the Daughter, Bride of Messiah, was embodied and appears as the Magdalene, the Apostle of Apostles, she was not well received, not received in full, as we see from the doctrines of the outer and unspiritual church that deny the Motherhood of God and the Holy Bride.

The First coming is the time of conception, the implanting of the of the seed of Holy Light and Spirit in humankind, but then follows the cycles of growth and gestation, and as gestation is complete, so then giving birth. The ‘growth and gestation,’ this is the time between the First and Second Appearance of Messiah, and the ‘birth’ is the time of the Second Coming, this birthing corresponding to the revelation of God the Mother and the full reception of the Holy Bride of Messiah.

Perhaps you may recall that Adonai Yeshua alludes to the Second Coming as a revelation of the Mother, teaching that the tribulations of the end of days would be as ‘birth pangs’ of the Great Resurrection and Ascension. These teachings were given as prophecy, and so may be understood as something more than poetic metaphor, but instead they may be understood as direct utterance of the nature of the revelation of God to come - Motherhood. St. Paul as an Apostle catches hold of this Wind of God, and as an example, in Romans he writes:

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only creation be we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies” (8:23).

There is, of course, a very clear and direct prophecy of the revelation of God the Mother in the Second Coming given to St. John by the Risen Messiah in the Book of Revelation:

“A great portent appeared in the heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pangs, in the agony of giving birth…”; “And she gave birth to a son, who is to rule all nations with a rod of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne; and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God…” (12:1-2, 3-6).

As we know, this Woman of Light is given the wings of the ‘Great Eagle,’ and this vision does indeed state that there is a revelation of the Motherhood of God with the Second Coming of the Messiah. There really can be no other interpretation of this vision, though it does also imply that with the revelation of the Mother, Imma, there comes a greater influx, outpouring, of the Supernal Light and Spirit of the Messiah. Very truly, She will generate and give birth to many more children of Light - sons and daughters of God, the Absolute Light. Praise God!

This interpretation is further affirmed if you understand the Name of God used in the Book of Revelation: ‘Lord God, the Almighty’ - Yahweh Elohim Shaddai. As we have shared above, Yahweh Elohim may be understood to mean ‘Eternal One, Father and Mother’ according to secret wisdom; but then Shaddai, which is most often translated as ‘Almighty,’ may also correctly translated as ‘Breasted One.’ Thus, this very Name of God may be taken to connote a revelation of the Motherhood of God in the Second Coming and End-Of-Days.

The Second Appearance of the Messiah is not the return of the man Yeshua, ‘Jesus,’ but rather it is a time of renewal, revival, and greater manifestation of the Power of Yahweh Delivers - ‘Yeshua,’ the Word, the Messiah Spirit, and corresponds with many more men and women of faith being taken up by the Spirit of God (Ruach Elohim), and the Messiah, the Word, the Holy Spirit, indwelling them, being embodied in them in full as in our Elder Brother and Sister, Yeshua and Mirya, and the original Holy Apostles; hence, Messiah Yeshua appearing again in a ‘cloud of witnesses,’ or many sons and daughters of God, the True Light - the Body of Messiah, Anointed Community, united as One in the Holy Light and Spirit of the Messiah.

There have been, and are, many signs given that this Second Coming, Second Appearance of the Messiah is underway, and with it the revelation of the Motherhood of God. As we know there was the revelation of ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe’ to Juan Diego several hundred years ago, which if understood was a profound revelation of God Most High as the Mother, along with a grand proclamation and prophecy of the dawn of the Second Coming. Around that time, and thereafter, many holy women and holy men have received the full influx of the Supernal Light and Messiah Spirit, and so embodying the Word, the Messiah Spirit, have proclaimed the Second Coming, the holy women speaking directly of the revelation of Motherhood within and through themselves, just as the revelation of Fatherhood within and through Adonai Yeshua. In our own lineage and tradition there was Tau Miriam, who received a radical anointing of Supernal Light and the Spirit of the Messiah in the mid 1880’s, who initiated a spiritual revolution in our lineage and its teachings, proclaiming a ‘return to the way of the First Circle’ and ‘living in the Second Coming’; the companions of her day would often call her ‘Mother,’ experiencing powerful rebirth in the Holy Light and Spirit with her, the Living Word being fully born in their hearts and souls, and with it the awareness of oneness with the Messiah in God Most High. Others in various lineages, too, like her, have become epicenters of this Great Influx and revelation of God the Mother, women and men receiving the renewal of the Anointing - Messiah.

So from the time of Tau Miriam in our own lineage and tradition we bear witness to this Light Transmission, this revelation of the Motherhood of God and Second Coming of the Messiah, and the renewal of the essential teachings of the Gnostic Path - the Straight Path.

Needless to say, in this ongoing revelation among us Imma has also been given to us as a primary Name for invocation, remembrance, of the One God.

There is, no doubt, much more that may be said concerning these deep mysteries, but for the moment this seems to be enough. Here I’m inclined to pause, waiting upon the Holy Spirit.

May the Divine Fullness of the Motherhood of God be revealed to us, and so may we come to complete knowledge of God Most High! Amen.

Imma Shalom!
