Sophia & other Aeons

I am not sure if Sophia is just a symbol or an allegory of something, or if she is an actual conscious being.

I am interested in the Aeons, can one pray to them, are they willing to assist in times of difficulties?

Blessings to you in the Holy Light of the Messiah!

‘Sophia’ corresponds with an attribute of the One God, as in Hokmah-Wisdom in Hebrew, but then Sophia also corresponds with a personification of the Divine, and the feminine aspect of the Christos and God in Gnostic Scriptures. In many Gnostic Scriptures Sophia is the equivalent of Shekinah in the Holy Kabbalah, and generally speaking, in that we have strong roots in Judaic Kabbalah, though teaching the Christian Kabbalah, we tend to speak of the Holy Shekinah more than we do Sophia. Typically, though, they are synonymous terms to us, but at times shifting between them, or using Sophia when discussing various Gnostic Scriptures, we are able to hint at subtle aspects of secret mysteries.

When we pray, when we invoke, first and foremost our invocations and prayers are directed to Christ and God, the True Light; even when we are praying through a personification of the Divine ((Partzuf), or we are invoking and praying with the angels, still our focus and cleaving is with Christ and God Most High - we do not worship angels, but rather we worship God and God alone. That said, we do indeed invoke and pray with angels in the Divine Presence, certainly so!

‘Aeons’ correspond with an order of angels, and therefore we would invoke them and pray with them as with any other angels. In the Holy Kabbalah aeons are a class of angel associated with the Order of the Ofanim, ‘wheel angels,’ and represent cycles of influence and inspiration, such as various ideologies that may arise in humankind during different periods. In some classical Gnostic Scriptures, however, the term ‘aeons’ seems to take on a similar meaning to that of Sefirot in the Kabbalah, indicating Attributes of the Divine. We base our spiritual and mystical vocabulary on the Kabbalah, so interpretations of ‘aeons’ in that way we do not venture into, but rather we study and contemplate the Tree of Life in the Kabbalah.

In terms of aeons, some teachings were shared about them in a discussion back in 2004 in this forum, if I recall correctly. If you go to the oldest page in this forum you should find them there.

In terms of our way with the invocation of angels you can get some sense of that from the teachings posted in our forums that’s dedicated to the knowledge of angels - “Revelations of Angels in the Heavens & on Earth.”

Shalom Aleichem!
