Being Holy: Being One
“So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and you shall be holy to your God [Elohenu]” (Numbers 15:40).
This verse says that we are to ‘be holy,’ it does not say that we are to become holy, but rather ‘be holy.’ This is significant. Understand, if we are to ‘be holy’ and not become holy, then in our essence and nature, in our true being, we are holy - there is an innate primordial purity and perfection that is the foundation of our inner being, the inner aspects of our soul, and in the inmost aspect of our soul, the ‘secret essence,’ we are inseparable from the Holy One of Being.
The original commandment from God Most High to all creatures, all living spirits and souls, is ‘Be’; hence, the Divine Utterance through which spirits and souls come into being and become manifest in the heavens and on earth, incarnate. ‘Be holy’ is an extension of the original commandment to human souls, the faithful and spiritual elect, for in the creation of the Human One (Adam) the Eternal God (Yahweh Elohim) breathed into the Human One the Spirit of God (Ruach Elohim) and thus the Human One came into being as a living soul (hayyah nefesh). As we know, the Hebrew for this ‘breath’ of God is a plural of neshamah, ‘divine nature,’ and as such, the Human One was imbued with something of the Nature and Essence of the Eternal God, the life and light of the Spirit of God being in the Human One. So, indeed, ‘Be Holy!’
Likewise, as we know, it is written that the Human One was created in the image and likeness of God (Elohim), not the outward material form of the Human One but the inward form - the holy soul that is woven of the Names of God, the Divine Attributes (Sefirot) and its supernal ‘form.’
Understand, ‘remember and do all my commandments’ means ‘actualize and realize My Attributes,’ and so ‘be holy to Me - Your God.’ This is the realization of the holiness of the Divine in you.
If we consider and contemplate the Holy Gospel, the message of Yeshua Messiah, it is exactly this, and in him we have a clear demonstration of the Perfect Human Being, the complete image and likeness of God, the True Light; hence, one who has removed their bestial human attributes to take on the Attributes of God and to embody the Spirit of God in full, truly being holy to God. In this light we may consider what Adonai Yeshua teaches: “Be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
The commandments in their spiritual essence correspond with the actions, manifestations, of the Names of God, the Divine Attributes - various manifestations of our divine nature, neshamah, and the Spirit of God in us; hence, the actions of the Divine Self, the Divine I Am - the ‘Son of God.’
Now, listen and hear and understand! Our holiness comes from God, who is Most Holy, Most High, and it is the soul within us and the Spirit of God within us that makes us holy; in the inmost part of our soul, our unique essence, and in the Spirit, we are inseparable from God, such that in our essence and nature, our true existence, God manifests as us. Thus, understand that this commandment to ‘be holy’ is a commandment to ‘be One’ - to realize our innate oneness with God, and to realize the Absolute Oneness of God Most High.
‘Be holy,’ ‘be One!’ Do you understand?
This verse, of course, speaks of the Straight Path - the Gnostic Path, the way of the prophets and apostles, and the knowers of God, holy and enlightened men and women - the ‘perfect ones.’ Remembering and doing the commandments is the striving to ascend from grade to grade, station to station, until reaching the station of passing away in God, and being holy, this is passing away and the realization of oneness that follows, the realization of Christ or God Consciousness as was embodied in Yeshua and Mirya, and various gnostic apostles after them.
So indeed we will remember and keep all of the commandments in their spiritual essence, internalizing and integrating them - enacting them and realizing them, and we will be holy, all as God Most High wills and ordains.
Remember, ‘Be Holy,’ ‘Be One’!
May you abide in the Beauty and Holiness of the Messiah, and be radiant as the Spiritual Sun of God! Amen.
