113: The Perfect Aeon

#1 Postby Tau Malachi » Thu May 27, 2004 12:09 pm

Mary was speaking to her companions. She said, "Everything that is above is in you here below. The Light of the heavens and Supernal Abode, and the essence of the Perfect Aeon. Let Logos and Sophia embrace in you and you will behold great wonders. Nothing will be impossible to you, for what is above will be brought down below and what is below will be lifted above. Praise the Lord!" (Secret Gospel of St. Mary Magdalene, saying 113)

The terms 'Perfect Aeon' and 'Aeon of Light' allude to the same priniciple, as do the terms 'Great Aeon' and 'Eternal Aeon.' This is the cause of all aeons and fulfillment of all aeons - the Aeon of Generation. In speaking of the Perfect Aeon the teachings say that there is God, Aeon, Cosmos and Creation; God, Aeon and Cosmos referring to the Divine Pleroma and Cosmos and Creation referring to the Entirety - Cosmos having a play in both the Pleroma and Entirety, representing the link between the two and ground of their inseparability.

Put into the vocabulary of the Kabbalah, there is Ain Soph (God), Adam Kadmon (Aeon), Cosmos (Atzilut), and Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah (Creation). In effect, Adam Kadmon is God's Son, the Image and Likeness of God, and the Soul of Adam Kadmon is the Soul of the Messiah. Thus the Perfect Aeon is the Messiah or Christos.

Adam Kadmon is the Olam-Universe of Letters, which gives rise to Atzilut, the Universe of Names and Partzufim; hence it is the Universe of the Living Logos (Word). Adam Kadmon is the Androgynous One, thus he-she is also the Living Sophia. Therefore, the Perfect Aeon is the Primordial Logos-Sophia, which is the Christos.

The aeons, as we know, are Divine Thoughts, and they are spans or durations of Time; Logos generates the Divine Thoughts and Sophia is the Space-Time-Consciousness in which the Thoughts occur. Thus, the Perfect Aeon is Timeless-Eternity, and the Pure Light Aeons are the generation of Time-Eternity, the upper and lower aeons being progressive restrictions of the Pure Light Aeons of the Supernal Abode.

An illuminating contemplation happens when one reads the prologue of the Gospel of St. John and in place of the word Logos reads Aeon - this can prove to be a potent Gnostic meditation.

Quite obviously, the Living Word transcends Lord Yeshua, for every Great Light-bear is an Incarnation of the Living or Primordial Logos; and the Living Sophia transcends Lady Mary, for every Incarnation of the Divine Consort the embodiment of the Living or Primordial Sophia. And so it is that Christ appears, Male and Female, Logos and Sophia; yet in the Perfect Aeon, Eternity, Logos and Sophia are One, the Sun of God.

The Perfect Aeon is the Living Presence and Power of the Bridal Chamber, or is the Image in the Bridal Chamber. The union of Logos and Sophia in oneself is, thus, the experience of the Bridal Chamber, which is the fifth Holy Rite of Gnosticism, the culmination of the Gnostic Path.

In this saying Lady Mary speaks and essential truth which is confirmed in our experience of the continuum of the Light-transmission: In the experience of the Light-transmission, the kingdom of heavens, and World of Supernal Light and Perfect Aeon are within and all around us here and now - As above, so below; as below, so above. Not as a concept but as our actual experience. (Many initiates can be witness of this.)

This Truth and Light is in us, according to Lord Yeshua and Lady Mary. In fact, the inmost part of our soul of Light presently exists in the Perfect Aeon and Supernal Abode - hence it exists in the Infinite and Eternal, completely transcending space-time. If we go within, and go yet deeper still, and live within, while yet in this world we will live in the Perfect Aeon and Light-kingdom. One who lives in this way will not experience death, as is promised at the outset of the Gospel of St. Thomas.

Now we may point out a certain truth - inward is upward, and therefore Godward. Going into the depths of Being, is going into the height of Being, the Highest of Life.

Many worship "Jesus" the man, and in so doing they fashion an idol for themselves, worshipping on the surface and something separate and apart from themselves. This is a grave error. In order to worship in Spirit and Truth, as Yeshua Messiah taught us to do, and to properly worship the Light-presence (Christos), we must worship the Light-presence in the Master and within ourselves, and in our worship we must be inwardly gathered, lest we worship in vain.

This reflects the true nature of Gnostic worship, which is the worship of the Knower in that which is Known; hence a worship of rapturous union or at-onement. Again and again we are pointed inward for the Gnosis of the Truth and Light - the realization of our indweller of Light.

Imagine that! Eternal Life is life right now, and always!

This is a powerful contemplation in this cycle of the solar year, between the Feast of the Crucifixion/Resurrection and the Feast of the Ascension/Pentecost - for many have acquire Gnosis of the Bornless Spirit in so doing. Let us pray the prayer of Nun, the death of death, and remember our Bornless Nature.

Blessings & shalom!

Shalom Tau Malachi,
If we are open to the energy of the sacred unity of Yeshua and Magdalene, feeling the love generated at the level of the heart and then flowing in the direction of the feet, would connecting Tiferet with Malkut in that way help to cultivate the inner embrace of Logos and Sophia?
Thank you for any clarification for a daily practice for this holy embrace within,
Shalom,
Mark

Blessings to you in Messiah Yeshua!

The various unifications of Tiferet and Malkut are something more than a flow of energy in the subtle body from one point to another; as influxes of the Sefirot are received inwardly, so they must be made manifest outwardly, enacted, embodied, through our thoughts, words and deeds - good works. Whatever truth and light is revealed to us we must then live according to that truth and light, and it is this that brings realization. It is through such actualization and realization of Sefirot, Divine Attributes, that unifications of the Six and Malkut are brought about; hence, the “enacting of commandments,” or living according to the word and wisdom of God.

The “embrace” of the Living Word (Logos) and Wisdom (Sophia), this corresponds with something of the Gnostic experience, the enlightenment experience, having something of this experience it must be realized, embodied, through living the enlightenment, the Word and Wisdom.

The inmost light - Infinite Light, is concealed in all things; the light that is above is everywhere below, but that light must be recognized and realized, and drawn out and made to shine. It’s not just above, in heaven, but it is within us and all around us here in this world. This is not something to just be believed, but it must be known through direct experience and realized, and this will heal and revolutionize the lives of those that have true knowledge (da’at, gnosis) of it, very much so! They will live in a very different way and accomplish many good works in their lives.

The term “Perfect Aeon,” of course, is synonymous with the World-To-Come, and though, indeed, the essence of this is in us, in the inmost aspects of our soul, it’s a potential that needs to be actualized and realize. Understand, here in this world through how we live and what we do, through our thoughts, words and deeds, we either establish our soul in the World-That-Is-Coming or we do not, something of our true spiritual potential is either realized or not, but when something of our soul is established in the World-That-Is-Coming, something of our true spiritual potential is realized, it will arise in the afterlife and we will be drawn up in the ascension, more or less, corresponding with the awakening and realization of of our soul in the Messiah. It is in this world that the manifestation of the World-To-Come is generated, it is in this life that our experience of the afterlife is created; here and now is the place of our labor and our realization, if we are willing to it.

On one level this saying of the Magdalene is reminding us of this.

At the same time, this also alludes to certain mysteries known to initiates concerning the awakening and uplifting of the serpent power in a spiritual labor for an actual Supernal Realization, and the awareness of a force that must be brought fully down and a force that must be brought fully up, and be brought into repose or cessation, opening the way for the full influx of the radiance of the Supernal Crown (Keter). There is an entire body of oral teachings in the tradition concerning this, and this passage hints at something of those teachings and the corresponding spiritual practices through which the interior stars are kindled, the serpent uplifted, and there is a full generation of the body of light, the body of the resurrection and ascension. Quite naturally with this spiritual development and evolution, and realization, there are significant spiritual gifts that arise, such as the working of wonders, through which greater spiritual works can be accomplished for others, greater charity can be offered, certainly so! Praise God!

Understanding this, there is a much greater flow of light and fire than from “heart to feet” indicated in this saying, and there is a very dynamic, active, love and compassion corresponding with “doers of the Word” that is indicated.

May many be blessed to receive the Word of God this day, and may many be empowered to hear the Wisdom of God to be accounted among the living ones, the immortals of the World-That-Is-Coming! Amen.

Shalom Aleichem!

Shalom Tau Malachi,
Thank you for this beautiful discourse.
Is the prayer of Nun an actual prayer, or is it a word, like Aum is a word that carries with it the energy of sacred sound?
Christmas blessings,
Robyn

Greetings and blessings in the Holy Light of the Messiah!

The Hebrew letter Nun is often called the “soul bird,” for the three letters composing it represent the three principle aspects of the soul, Nun-Nefesh, Vau-Ruach and Nun-Neshamah; hence, on one level, the “prayer of nun” is the prayer of the soul, desire of the soul. Neshamah corresponds with our heavenly or supernal soul, our divine or enlightened nature, and therefore the remembrance of where we have come from and why we are here so that we might fulfill our true intention, our true desire, to reintegrate with the Light Continuum (Perfect Aeon) and return to God, the True Light - the “death of death.”

There is something more, though, because Nun implies cessation, the cessation of the cause of sorrow and suffering, sin and death, and it is in cessation, self-negation, dissolution into our inmost essence and nature - Ain and the Clear Light, that we realize our bornless being, “eternal life.” Thus, understanding this, the “prayer of nun” is deep meditation (hitbodedut), the perfection of primordial meditation, primordial contemplation.

Recently I responded to a post by Elder Sarah about giving and receiving and union with partzuf in the “Gnostic Path” forum, the evolution of the practice of union with partzuf to Clear Light Dissolution corresponds with the “prayer of nun.” As much as corresponding with primordial meditation, the “prayer of nun” alludes to the practice of the transference of consciousness and union with the Clear Light in its fruition; but then that’s the perfection of primordial meditation, the deepest state of meditation.

Then there is another mystery hinted at, for you may recall the character of Joshua in the Old Testament, the prophet who succeeded Moses and lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land, Joshua ben Nun; Joshua, Yeshua, is the name of the Messiah, and that prophet is said to be among the incarnations of the soul destined to be the Messiah. In this the “prayer of nun” implies following in the way of the Perfect Tzaddik, the Messiah, and implies the instruction of Yeshua Messiah, “Take up your cross and follow me.”

These various layers of meaning, of course, are all intimately connected.

Shalom Aleichem!

Shalom Tau Malachi,
When practicing primordial meditation with the focus on a holy picture of Magdalene or Yeshua and if there is a receiving of the vibration that shifts consciousness to an interbeing or communion with that holy presence, would that be considered connecting with some level of the supernal realm? Thank you for helping my understanding of the various gradations of gnostic experience.
May the energy of Magdalene and Yeshua purify our consciousness,
Mark

Shalom Mark!

The essence of neshamah, yechidah and hayyah, have their root in Atzilut, and neshamah proper corresponds with Beriyah - the universe of neshamot and archangels. The experience your describing could correspond with Yetzirah or with Beriyah depending upon the level of the presence of awareness and knowledge arising during the experience, for experiences of higher, inner gradations of the soul correspond with a greater presence of awareness, a higher, more expanded state of consciousness and greater intelligence, therefore increasing knowledge, understanding and wisdom, and likewise love and compassion. Concerning experiences corresponding with Atzilut, they are experiences of complete self-nullification, the cessation of self-consciousness in and experience of oneness, and there a distinct consciousness that dawns, rightly called the 'Perfect Thunder Intelligence'; at the level of Beriyah and Yetzirah self-nullification is partial, incomplete, but there is a reaching into higher vital and mental gradations of consciousness, and corresponding gradations of awareness and intelligence. At the level of Beriyah these may venture into various states of cosmic consciousness and the overmind. Our experiences at the various levels of Yetzirah and Beriyah go far beyond the ordinary mind and finite intellect of the unenlightened condition, and as such early on it can be easy to mistake them for direct experiences of Atzilut, or the Supernal Abode.

So what you've shared could be descriptive of various levels - Yetzirah itself has a profound experience of "interbeing" in comparison with more ordinary states of mental-vital consciousness, very much so.

In general we are not concerned with exactly what gradation of consciousness, soul, arises in peak experiences, but rather the knowledge of heaven and God, and salvation that we acquire, and more so our intention is drawing nearer to God, laboring for conscious unification with Christ in God, the True Light; hence the fruition of enlightenment and liberation in Christ - full Christ of God Consciousness.

Shabbat Blessings!
