The Proclamation

#1 Postby Tau Malachi » Sat Mar 27, 2004 11:09 am

The Gospel of Truth begins: "The proclamation of Truth is joy for those who have received Grace from the Father of Truth, that they might learn to know him through the power of the Word that emanated from the Pleroma of the Father's Thought and Intelligence..."

In Hebrew the word for Truth is Amet. If Aleph is removed from Amet it is Met, which means "death." Thus, Truth connotes Life, and by extension it connotes Light. Thus, the nature of the Truth, which is Logos-Word, is Life and Light. Truth-Amet is a name of Keter, the first Light-emanation on the Tree of Life, and it is called the emanation of Pure Grace. The root of the Word is in Keter-Crown, and it is the revelation of Keter - Divine or Supernal Being.

Thought and Intellect may be translated as Thought and Intelligence, which are names often given to Binah-Undestanding and Hokmah-Wisdom on the Tree of Life, the second and third Light-emanations, respectively. Thus the Pleroma or Fullness from which the Word emanates is the Supernal Abode, and the nature of the Word is Supernal Consciousness (Messianic Consciousness).

Essentially, the Father is Yahweh, the One Life-Power or Eheieh, I am or Divine Being, and the Son is the awakening of the One Life-Power or I am within individuals or creation; the awareness of the Sacred Unity that underlies all things.

The term "awareness of Sacred Unity" can be deceptive for it may imply a state of cosmic consciousness. Yet Supernal Consciousness is completely beyond cosmic consciousness. Cosmic consciousness is the peak ot the mental and vital being, but Supernal Consciousness is Supramental, beyond the mental being and all thought or desire; hence it is Pure Radiant Awareness or Non-dual Gnostic Awareness.

Thus, at the very outset of this Gospel the nature of the Messiah or Christ is clearly stated as Supernal Being-Consciousness-Force.

The nature of this Truth and Light is that of a spiritual nuclear fire - something more than the initial Light that comes from above. It is a Fiery Light that has the power to transform every level of being-consciousness, even the physical or material level of consciousness.

The prologue of the Gospel of Truth continues: "...the Word, who is spoken of as Savior: for that is the term for the work that he was to accomplish to ransom those who had fallen ignorant of the Father; while the term 'proclamation' refers to the manifestation of hope, a discovery for those who are searching for him."

Thus, the Savior is the Transforming Power of Supernal Consciousness-Force, and the nature of the proclamation is the reception of this Superior Light which enlightened and liberates the soul. This perfectly expresses the Gnostic idea of salvation through gnosis, and identifies the Truth Gospel as a Gnostic transmission and Light-transmission, hence the role of Initiation among gnostics.

The statement of the reception of the Supernal Light through the agency of Divine Grace is significant, for we prepare the vessel of reception, namely ourselves, through spiritual practice and the spiritual life. Likewise, receiving the influx of the Supernal Light we integrate it through spiritual practice and the spiritual life and are empowered to extend that Light in the world. Yet, it is not the spiritual practice and life which generates or imparts the True Light, but it is Grace that receives and imparts it - for the Light is a movement of Grace or the Holy Spirit (Mother Spirit). Thus, in essence, the Way of Christ is a "Yoga of Grace" (Union of Grace).

This is the quality of Gnosticism that makes it the perfect vehicle of enlightement for the Western person - for in the midst of a very active life, save through Grace, who would become enlightened and liberated?

This can prove a very powerful contemplation - where does it take your thoughts?

Blessings & shalom!

Greetings,

This brings to my mind how Yehsua says, "The Truth shall set you free".
It seems it is freedom that is brought to the word death (in hebrew,) when the Aleph is added. In Truth it doesn't seem like anything can be bound up or blocked. Truth seems to imply fluidity. This fluidity appears fiery, heating up and melting duality so that there is no separation between the one and the many. In the melting only awareness is known.

It also comes to mind it being said before that Awareness is the Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge of the fluidity. Truth is rather Gap like, existing only in the in- betweens. In between life and death, in between breath and in between every flashing moment, so that each moment was every other moment. In Truth there seems to be perfect Repose, perfect Peace.

These are a few thought that come up in regaurds to this lovely subject.

Many Blessings.

Amet

#3 Postby Tau Malachi » Sun Mar 28, 2004 9:33 am

Greetings Sunny!

Yes, this word Amet is revealing. It implies that the modeled form of a human being is akin to a golem (lifeless image) before the reception of the Holy Spirit or Fiery Intelligence; hence the Aleph.

You may recall that the First Human One was formed of earth and various elements and then God breathed into Adam Ha-Rishon the Living Soul - this is akin to Aleph being joined to Met, for following God's radiant holy breath Adam is called "living soul" or "living being." From a Gnostic perspective the Christ revelation is the activation of this divine potential in human beings, as though Christ is this radiant holy breath the Living Father breathes into humanity.

Your thought is right on track concerning Truth and the fluid nature of reality, for falsehood is a grasping at a solid or fixed or static self and reality. Interestingly enough, fluid depects a living body and fixed or static depects a corpse. Thus, as we see in Gnostic Scriptures, those who have knowledge of Truth are called the living ones - fluid and flowing ones.

All of this arises from the Gap, which is Ain (No-Thingness), exists in the Gap and returns to the Gap.

Greetings Malachi,

I wonder if when we speak of the Angrogenous One, the whom whom is neither male or female, this self- generating one, are we speaking of one whom arises, exists and returns to this Ain, this gap? I does appear that all that we witness in this reality display is just this, arising, existing and returning, yet what happens in forgetfulness? Does one get lost in the cycle? Or is one simply not aware of the cycle? I have had experience before in the Light Continuum in which everything came into existence through completion of a cycle, like the snake with it's tail in it's mouth. It appears that it is awareness that allows one to be awake in this cycle and in wakefulness one would be aware of what was being manifest in this cycle of arising, existing and returning. Death in this sence seems to be the unconscious manefestation of the reality display. It seems we all have a great manifesting power yet in sleepfulness we do not know what we are creating and it is being created completely through the lenses of habitual patterns and a karmic continuum. In this way Truth is truly what one is, not what one has been conditioned to think. Also I wonder if this arising, existing and returning could be connected to life, death and rebirth? If so the paralell of death and existing is sure an interesting contemplation.

Many Blessings,

Shalom,

Bondage to Appearances

#5 Postby Tau Malachi » Mon Mar 29, 2004 1:42 pm

Greetings Sunny!

It seems we get bound to the one percent realm, divorced from the ninety nine percent realm - bound to appearances, name and form, and personal history. Thus, in forgetfulness we become bound to perpetual rounds of transmigration, unconsciously compelled by the karmic continuum and the play of cosmic forces. Entering into the Gap - this Clear Light, we no longer identify with appearances, but rather with the essence and nature of consciousness from which all appareances arise, in which they occur and into which they all dissolve. This is our True Being indicated by the divine name Eheieh (I shall be).

You will recognize this as the Principle of Melchizedek from the "secret teachings of the tradition" and as the inmost essence of the Christos depected as Keter on the Tree of Life Glyph. If you look into the book, Gnosis of Melchizedek, you may find it is very helpful in this contemplation, for typically speaking we join our dialogue on the Gospel of Truth with the Melchizedek Teachings of the Sophian Tradition. In this context, one can contemplate the Great Vision of Melchizedek detailed in the book, which is the natural and sponentanous display of the Primordial Nature or Clear Light. What is being described is the inmost essential Light-transmission, the outer and inner levels of which appear as Glory and Light; yet there is this Essential Light, the Clear or Transparent Light, within and behind the Glory and Light that appears. It is this we are able to recognize and realize by learning to abide in the Gap, which is basically a state of cessation or repose. This repose, however, is dynamic, for in this state of empitness we experience the Pleroma (Fullness) of Supernal Light; hence the phrase repose and movement that appears in Gnostic Scriptures.

Of course, we are talking about the Threefold Body Attainment, Jeweled Body Attainment and Rainbow Body Attainment - all of these manifestations of the Body of Light arise from the Gap (Ain).

Your contemplation is right on track, my sister...

blessings! :)

this is such a profound nutshell paragraph--

having been raised in the lutheran church, this is satisfying to read, from an 'habitual mind' kind of place, but including the posts/discussion that follows it seems that Grace is in the Gap--perhaps this is the part (if not all) of the context/frame of reference i've been looking to better understand.

much can be learned in repose.

Greetings and blessings in the Light of the Messiah!

It is interesting, just this morning I took up a teaching that dovetails quite nicely with this thread, and that ventures into much the same subject in greater depth and breadth - it is posted in the thread on Hayyah Yeshua in the "Gnostic & Gnosticism" forum.

I thought it might be good to mention the connection...

Gospel: A Liberative Proclamation

#8 Postby Elder Gideon » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:34 pm

Shabbat Shalom!

I'm delighting in this Gnostic gospel, particularly as we're working with it in skype conversation every week. This might be my most favored Gnostic text, for prior to experiences of Light Transmission in this lineage, it was already beautifully metaphorical; after the same said experiences, the text is not metaphorical at all, but quite literal. How this is so can only be known by one who's experienced the evaporation of all reference points of personal history and remain awake; if but for a moment, there is the life-changing glimpse into awareness itself, which needs not a name nor a form nor a personal history to exist, but always is, as it was and forever shall be.

To behold and know this awareness directly, beyond belief, is to recognize this nature already free, already pure, already home. This innate freedom, purity, and homecoming is what primordially meant Gospel. The word itself for Gospel, points to this: εὐαγγέλιον. Euaggelion is not the New Testament, nor is it any writing, but is a liberative proclamation heard mouth to ear of this very freedom, purity, and homecoming, here and now. The meaning 'good news' by which so many Christians partially understand the meaning of the word gospel is so much more. Quite parallel actually to what our Buddhist brothers and sisters call the Dharma, so we call the Gospel: a liberative proclamation. The teaching is itself enlightenment of the enlightened nature we need not acquire, but remember.

This aspect has blessed my study of the prologue of this symphonic, Gnostic gospel. Combined with what Tau Malachi drew out so long ago of the words Death becoming Truth with the addition of one Hebrew letter א, equates with what the first generations of Christians heard and experienced as Gospel with א. How wonderful! Messiah is this א revealed by Yeshua, the Holy Bride, and the Gnostic Apostolic Succession empowered by א to transmit this memory of innate purity, freedom, and homecoming.

The א blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit. (John 3:8 )

The Name of the Gospel

#9 Postby Elder Gideon » Sun Apr 24, 2011 3:52 pm

Greetings!

The name of the gospel is the revelation of hope, since that is the discovery of those who seek him, because the realm of all sought him from whom it came. You see, all was inside of him, that illimitable, inconceivable one, who is better than every thought.

I wished to contribute another thought to this thread on the opening prologue of the Gospel of Truth, concentrating on the phrase, "The name of the gospel is the revelation of hope, since that is the discovery of those who seek him, because the realm of all sought him from whom it came." Name in this gospel is image, as in the Hebrew word zelem. Corresponding name with neshamah, one's bornless, Divine Nature, helps deepen this very sentence, suggesting that

the image and likeness of the liberative declaration is the secret disclosure of hope.

We later learn that this experience of our enlightened nature is not an acquisition, but very specifically, a discovery for any seeking; "the realm of all sought him from whom it came." What in us seeks enlightenment is our own enlightened nature. What else but enlightenment would know to seek enlightenment? Of course, as this wondrous text will further unfold, the image, the zelem, the name of the gospel is the appearance of hope, Hayyah Yeshua: "Do not fear the world", he tells his disciples in his last discourse in St. John, "I have overcome the world."

May the Risen Savior within us seek the Risen Savior outside of us.
May image reflect image.

Amen and amen!

Greetings Dear Ones!

This rich thread has brought to my mind a saying from the Gospel of Thomas "When you bring forth that in yourselves, this which is yours will save you; if you do not have that in yourselves, this which is not yours in you will kill you."

The contemplation is this: Truth is the addition of alph to met, or no to death, no-death. No death would be Life, or eternal life,or the Life which is the living poteniality the power that resides in Ain that comes forth to create the manifest universe.

So to paraphrase the saying, when you bring forth the Truth in yourselves, it will save you (bring you to eternal Life). If you do not do this- that is to say if you are not true to yourself this untruth (met) will kill you. This is a kind of living death. The body is living but the one whose body it is has failed to connect to the Living Truth and thereby can not experience eternal Life.

Thank you for bringing this forth!

Wishing you well, Shalom

Ongoing contemplation...

#11 Postby Tau Malachi » Thu Apr 28, 2011 11:25 am

Greetings and blessings in the light of the Messiah!

These are some beautiful insights Gideon and Laura – perfectly delightful.

Contemplating Alef in the context of the Gospel of Truth (Amet), I cannot help but contemplate the name of the Human One, Adam, along with Names of God that begin with Alef.

The name of Adam is composed of Alef and Dam (Dalet-Mem), the latter literally meaning “blood,” and Alef meaning “spirit,” “wind” or “breath.’ Thus, the name of the Human One means “spirit in the blood,” and we may say that this alludes to the spiritual power in the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, who is the fullness of the Human One, Son of the Human One, the true image and likeness of Yahweh Elohim. As such, Yeshua Messiah is rightly called Adonai, “Lord,” the embodiment and revelation of Yahweh, and more so, the revelation of El Elyon, which also begins with Alef.

The Essential Name, Eheieh, begins with Alef as well, I Am, or I Shall Be, and according to the Gospel of St. John, Adonai Messiah speaks in this Holy Name and from this Holy Name, and we may say that he speaks as the embodiment of this Holy Name – he speaks as Emmanuel, “God with us.”

Elohim, the Name of God in the act of creation also begins with Alef – this power of the Spirit of God flowing through Sefirot, Names and Partzufim, archangels and angels, and, indeed, the entire matrix of creation; and as we know and understand, this Great Spirit moving with, in and through all creation labors to generate the Human One, the Messiah, who embodies the Shekinah of Elyon, the Supreme.

The embodiment of the power of El Elyon and Eheieh, and the great glory and power of Elohim – the full array of Holy Sefirot, is the manifestation of Adonai Messiah, Yeshua Messiah; and it is the Messiah that is the Word, the Truth (Amet), spoken, which when heard, experienced and known, is salvation – enlightenment and liberation.

This presence and power, of course, is within us, and it is ever beyond us – awakened within us it is to be joined with itself beyond us, the Human One of Light (Yeshua) in union with the Light Continuum (Yahweh).

Here we may say, *there is liberation through hearing* – let those who have ears, hear, and be set free!

Truly, we must draw this light, life, from within us, and let this light shine, illuminating the world and all who are in it.

Perhaps we might consider a teaching from the Gospel of Truth concerning letting our light shine: “But this one, because they are a righteous person, does their works among others.” This, naturally, is speaking of one awakened in Christ and living in Christ – laboring to embody Christ and proclaim the Truth, which is Christ and God, the True Light.

May we remember our source and foundation in the Human One of Light and Pleroma of Light, and so be a light-bearer in this world, walking in the beauty and holiness that is the Messiah – amen.

Peace be with you!
