Klippot: the Husks or Shells

#1 Postby Tau Malachi » Sat Apr 24, 2004 3:48 pm

Bereshit A 106. From the beginning of the secret of the supernal point - which is Arik Anpin - to the end of all grades, they are all intertwined, so that each and everyone is a Klippah (shell or husk) to the other. A Klippah is like a covering or an outer layer, just as a shell is a cover for a fruit. (The Unabridged Editation of the Zohar)

Typically speaking the term Klippah (singular) refers to an admixed or demonic force; the Klippot (plural) being the dominion of admixed and demonic forces - hence the Other Side of the Tree of Light, which is the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. As defined here in the Zohar, the word Klipah means shell or husk, as in a shell of a nut or husk of a grain of wheat, which protects the fruit until it is mature. The Klippot are, thus, husks of darkness or impure emanations. The use of this term implies that admixed and dark forces have a place in the scheme of creation - a certain role to play.

According to the Kabbalah, the play of light and darkness, good and evil, facilitate free will, for without light and darkness there would be no choice and therefore no freedom of will. Cosmic ignorance, which is the illusory separation from God, allows for free will, and with this illusion of separation the play of cosmic forces comes into being - divine, admixed and demonic forces. Thus, free will or the power to choose is activated in creation.

However, as the Zohar points out here, Klippot are not only the dark or impure emanations of the Nightside of the Tree of Life, but also indicates the Sefirot of lower Partzufim (Divine Personifications) and Olamot (Universes or Worlds) in relation to the upper Partzufim and Olamot. Thus, the Sefirot of Atzilut are Klippot to the Sefirot of Adam Kadmon, and the Sefirot of Beriyah are Klippot to the Sefirot of Atzilut, and so on down the Great Tree of Life through Yetzirah and Asiyah. Thus, the Sefirot of the lower Partzufim and Olamot conceal the Sefirot of upper Partzufim and Olamot - in fact, compared to the Sefirot of an upper Olam, those of the lower Olam are "dark" and "impure."

Essentially, the lower Olamot are the result of the Tzimtzum, the restriction of the Supernal Light. Cosmic ignorance is the fundamental agent of this restriction, which becomes thicker or more potent from one level to another as the Supernal Light is progressively restricted. This gives rise to increasingly greater and more intense admixture and darkness - a more radical play of light and darkness, good and evil, as evidenced in our world, which rests at the outermost point.

In this sense we may come to understand the relativity of evil, as well as something we experience in the Light-transmission. In a certain sense, evil is something obsolete or out of place, something imbalanced or unharmonious; specifically it indicates a lower vibratory frequency, or a discordant vibration. In the process of self-realization, therefore, our interpretation of "evil" becomes increasingly more subtle and sublime.

In terms of the Light-transmission, which is a progressive revelation of higher and more subtle forms of Light and Truth, before we bring ourselves into harmony with the new level of vibration, light and energy, we find that it is too intense and overwhelming. Yet, as we encounter the new level, and we are exposed to it more and more, it is no longer too intense for us. It would be impossible for us to enter into the inmost level of the Light-transmission at the outset, for, quite frankly, it would burn us up - thus, it is mercy that the Essence of the Light is concealed in the Glory of Glory, the Glory of Light, and the Light. This mercy manifests in the form of lower Grades or Sefirot (Light-emanations), which are as Klippot to higher Grades or Sefirot.

In the process of receiving the Light-transmission and self-realization we come to understand another interpretation of Klippot - for the various aspects of the soul are Klippot to the inner aspects. Nefesh is a Klippah to Ruach and Ruach is a Klippot to Neshamah. Neshamah, in turn, is a Klippah to Hayyah and Hayyah is a Klippah to Yechidah; our physical body is the outermost Klippah.

Whether in terms of the Sefirot of the Partzufim and Olamot, or in terms of the levels of the soul of Light, at the inmost level there is only Light and Truth, but at the outermost level there is the greatest play of Light and Darkness, Truth and Falsehood - and Darkness and Falsehood hold dominion.

This can prove an interesting contemplation of the Mystery of the Resurrection and Ascension, for in essence it is the shedding of Klippot from one level to another until only Truth and Light remains - our Bornless and Divine Nature.

These diverse interprations of Klippot certainly point to a non-linear understanding of reality and creation and can lead to some amazing, if not troubling, realizations!

Blessings & shalom!

Shalom!

Pistis Sophia also illustrates this shedding of klippot through levels of ascension. That this teaching is revealed in various forms for us is truly awe inspiring!

Repentance

#3 Postby Tau Malachi » Sun Apr 25, 2004 8:03 am

Shalom Rebekah!

Yes, indeed, the same basic teaching exists in the Pistis Sophia, for the lower regoins of darkness, chaos and matter, the archons of the aeons and all under Heimarmene are Klippot. According to the gospel the forces of the lower regions steal the Light-power of Pistis Sophia, which is a function of what typically are called Klippotic forces.

In the process of the Redemption of Sophia she speaks Thirteen cycles of repentance, essentially shedding the Klippot of the archons of the aeons and it is this activity that allows the power of the Savior to deliver her from the lower regions. This gives insight into confession and repentance: confession is the recognition of a Klippah and repentance is a shedding of the Klippah by turning towards the Light and Truth. Given the definition of Klippah as a husk or shell repentance represents penetrating insight that liberates the energy bound up in a Klippah.

As implied in the main article above, to the First Mystery everything below is by nature Klippot - a restriction and concealment of the True Light.

In the study and contemplation of the Zohar it becomes quite clear why most living Gnostic Christian traditions have the Kabbalah as their foundation, or at least as a significant part of their teachings. The Zohar itself is perhaps the most powerful and amazing sacred text generated by Judaism - like the Pistis Sophia merely reading it invokes Light into the world. Truly, it is a Western enlightement teaching when understood.

Blessings...

bring me to considering our society and how it seems we've gone backward to act out evils that were once obsolete, like hijacked elections, government endorsed torture. we had seemed to make more subtle headway on other issues, when suddenly the more enlightened behaviors were given a label, "PC," and then put down.

i suppose it could be understood by looking at the wave of change, two steps forward with one step back, as well as other forces gaining ears to hear them. still it can be very disappointing when it seems we've made great strides and then there's a backlash which takes us back, seemingly fruther than where we started.

i'm interested in hearing others' perceptions of this.

Shalom friends and blessings in the Light of the Messiah,

your question, True, is often on my mind too. How can societies fall far backward in their development and act out evils that they seem to have overcome? In history this happens again and again, including in my own country.

One passage from the Bible comes to mind, when the prophet Elijah kills 400 alien prophets he has defeated in a contest. Through this deed he looses his close connection to God for a long time.

His actions were motivated by fear. Fear, anger, hate and other negative emotions lead us to do thing we would otherwise never have done. This is why we have to transform these klippot in us and help others to do the same in the best way we can.

Many blessings,
Martina

Th End Times

#6 Postby Tau Malachi » Thu Sep 24, 2009 12:35 pm

Greetings and blessings in the Light of the Messiah!

First it must be said that nature proceeds through cycles of flows and ebbs, and evolution occurs through cycles of progress and regress – to the extent that humankind is an expression of nature, a product of evolution, this principle must apply to human development on all levels.

That said, according to wisdom traditions around the world, according to their seers among us and the prophecies they have spoken and recorded, we are living in the end times, the end-of-days is drawing near, and there is much to be said of what transpires in the end-of-days and what the “end-of-days” means.

If, in fact, it is true, that we are living in the end times, and the end-of-days drawing near, then as initiates in the Messiah, as light-bearers, healers and peacemakers, it is important that we know and understand what is happening in our times on a spiritual and metaphysical level so that we might act as conscious agents of the Messiah and the supernal kingdom of heaven, Supernal Malkut.

Essentially, as the end-of-days draws near there is a great influx of souls into incarnation, and there is a great influx of spiritual power – in that this world is bound up in ignorance, dualism, the illusion of separation, this influx of spiritual power becomes an influx of light and darkness, the potential for great good, great beauty, and great evil, great horror.

The result is an acceleration in consciousness, an acceleration of creative evolution in the world, and it precipitates something of an evolutionary crisis, one that is faced in any world-system within which “humanity” or self-aware and intelligence life emerges. Basically speaking, the awakening of the fiery intelligence in the human life-wave gives access to greater and greater power, and to the potential for a full conscious development and evolution on all levels, material, psychic and spiritual, and with it comes the challenge of integrating the power we access, a challenge of vital and mental maturation, and spiritual maturation. Ready or not, this acceleration happens regardless, and the question becomes whether or not the vessel of reception can withstand the influx of Supernal Force, Supernal Fire, whether or not humanity is ripe and mature, and able to integrate the great power of Divine and Supernal Being pouring into it.

There is a very curious and odd teaching concerning souls in the end-of-days in ancient schools of Jewish Kabbalah, one that sounds very silly and that yet holds wisdom. In former times it was thought that souls were created as they are, each according to their kind, by God from the outset of creation – the evolution of souls through various and countless life-forms apparently was not known and understood by Jewish Mekubalim. Thus, it was thought that God created a limited number of human souls at the beginning of creation, and these were held in what was called the Guph, a “repository of souls.” Based upon this teaching it was said that as the end-of-days approached, the Guph would run out of human souls, and consequently apparent human beings would be born without souls, and they would become channels or vehicle of klippotic forces, great forces of darkness.

There is some truth in this perception, for in that there is a great influx of soul into incarnation as the end-of-days draws near, then that means that there is a radical increase of souls that are new to incarnation as human beings – many “first timers.” There are various grades of the development and evolution of human beings, human souls, and at the outset, when we fist incarnate as a human being we are not truly and fully human – our true humanity has not been cultivated and developed, our true human potential has not been actualized and realized. It requires many incarnations as a human being to become an authentic human being, let alone a realized individual. Thus, at a time of great influx of fiery intelligence and spiritual power there are more and more young and immature souls incarnate, and they are very susceptible and vulnerable to the klippotic forces, the archonic and demonic forces – it is as though they are soulless and they are taken up by the shades and shadows that arise with the influxes of spiritual power.

It must be said, however, that when we speak of souls new to human incarnation we are not proposing that such souls lack ordinary human faculties, such as the intellect and the like, but rather what is lacking is the cultivation of true human qualities such as love and compassion, tolerance and understanding, awareness of interconnectedness, and such – the higher vital and higher mental faculties, and with them the spiritual faculties. Essentially the entire incarnation is lived in nefesh behamit, the bestial soul, and in what is called the “lower ruach” that is associated with it – the ego and bestial instincts, and egoistic desires and fears dominate.

It must also be said that in the present human condition, and the unenlightened human societies arising from it, in the collective of humanity, most of us, as yet, have not cultivated our full and true humanity, or “come to our heart,” but rather the vast majority of us live only in the surface consciousness, and in the three lower interior stars, the solar plexus, belly and root cut off from our heart and the upper interior stars – few cultivate nefesh elokit, the godly soul, let alone the fullness of ruach so as to receive the influence and influx of neshamah.

Nefesh elokit is the beginning of our true humanity and neshamah is its fruition – the realization of hayyah and yechidah representing an evolution well beyond what we would call “human” at present.

The human life-wave is the primary vessel for the reception and entrance of any influx of spiritual power, and is the primary vehicle and channel of spiritual being-forces in the world – each human being and all of humankind is this, and therefore with a greater influx of souls new to human incarnation and the present stage of human development as a whole, when there is an influx of great spiritual power there is a very strong tendency to go to the Other Side, the “Dark Side,” the violent or bestial inclination holding dominion.

At the same time there are great cosmic and spiritual forces of ignorance, admixture and darkness – archonic and demonic forces that reach up into the inmost planes of the spiritual dimension, so that it is not only an issue of unenlightened humanity, but there are all manner of unenlightened spiritual beings-forces and their influences. In the unenlightened condition of humankind, unenlightened spiritual beings-forces dominate the world and human society, for in the unenlightened condition that is what much of humankind tends to link with and channel, and all too often that is what humanity calls “god,” archons and demons becoming our “gods and goddesses.”

If we look into the history of religion, and look into actual streams of Divine Revelation and Light Transmission, even where there is an authentic revelation and transmission we see the influences of archonic and demonic powers entering into play, and, generally speaking, exoteric religion, the religions of the masses, becomes dominated by the demiurge and archons, as does virtually everything else in unenlightened human society.

This has always been the case, only now there is an acceleration and amplification.

If we look deeply into this, if we can really hear this and see this for ourselves, then we will know and understand the need for the Savior and Gnostic Revealer, and for the sanctuary of grace established by him and in him – we will know and understand the need for the Divine Incarnation of the Messiah and salvation, for it will be perfectly clear.

The Holy One is merciful and compassionate, and although there is a struggle for evolution and there is a play of fierce judgment, creation is designed to move towards liberation – what we behold in the Risen Messiah is that our bondage is illusory, that the appearance of creation as a cause of bondage is false, a deception.

Counterbalancing the play of archonic and demonic forces, and the influx of souls new to human incarnation is the Continuum of Light Transmission embodied by the Messiah, and an influx of souls of higher grades, tzaddikim and maggidim to help bring the Divine Intention to its fruition in the Second Coming, the manifestation of the true kingdom of heaven, Supernal Malkut.

Here it must be said, if and when we focus too much on the dominion of the ignorance, the darkness in the world, and the evils committed, apart from the true vision of sorrow and the generation of the Sacred Heart as a real power, it is our ego, our self-cherishing that is noticing, and the play of attachment and aversion remains in full swing – it is a trick of the same ignorance, the same darkness seeking to compromise our faith, shatter our hope and extinguish our love!

Look and see! If we focus too much upon the dominion of darkness it becomes all we think about and talk about. Even among spiritual peoples this is true, for instead of greater spiritual mysteries of the Pleroma of Light, the Gospel of Truth and the way of self-realization in Christ, we can end up talking about the dominion of the klippot and the evil in the world, in effect linking with it and invoking it, rather than cleaving to God, the True Light, and invoking the Divine Powers of the Pleroma of Light. Inadvertently, with our mind and heart we can become channels of admixed and dark forces through an obsessive aversion. In so doing we can end up in discouragement, hopelessness, or worse, in something of the violence of radical fundamentalism that believes in a purging of evil by way of a “holy war,” becoming the very evil it proposes to be banishing from the face of the earth.

Granted, we have reason to know and understand the play and conflict of spiritual forces, and the dominion of darkness that rules the world, and to we have reason to speak of such thing and contemplate such things to a point – but we must recognize when the usefulness of such discussion and contemplation comes to an end. Thus, on the occasion that we must speak of such things for our spiritual education and empowerment the masters of the tradition teach us that afterward we are to purify ourselves and banish, and turn to God, the True Light, and the Risen Messiah in prayer, and invoke the Divine Powers of the True Light, the Supernal Light.

We must be clear and conscious agents of the kingdom of heaven, Supernal Malkut – the Holy Bride.

Once we recognize the dominion of ignorance, darkness, and the plight of souls in sorrow and suffering, the true question is not why does ignorance dominate the world, but rather, how do we bring the dominion of ignorance, the violent inclination, to an end in ourselves, and how can we help others bring this ignorance, the violent inclination, to an end in themselves?

This is the thrust and focus of Christian Gnosticism – the cessation of the cause of evil, the cessation of the cause of sorrow and suffering; hence, the focus is the enlightenment and liberation of the soul, which is our empowerment to be of the greatest possible benefit to others, helping to facilitate their enlightenment and liberation, relieving their sorrow and suffering, serving as midwives to the Virgin of Light giving birth to Christ in creation.

What shall we say of the pains of giving birth? In the end they are as passing shadows in the joy of having given birth.

Just before birth, the pangs of birth accelerate and increase in intensity – and so it is now in the world as we approach the greater birthing of Supernal or Messianic Consciousness in a larger segment of the human collective.

Midwives ought to be attentive to the Mother as her birthing draws near, and abide in the hope for which they co-labor with the Mother – the hope of her Holy Child, the Messiah!

If we see a great regression, or we see a great influx of darkness, then what we see is that there is much work to be done, and we are called to that Great Work, the labor of the harvest of souls.

As we do so we also want to remember our faith and hope in Christ, and recognize that there is an equally great influx of light – turning away from the darkness and turning towards the light, we cleave to the Risen Messiah and Shekinah of Messiah, and we bring in, hold and anchor that Holy Light for the people and the land; we actively take up our role as midwives in the labor of Holy Mother and as companions of the Holy Bride, New Jerusalem.

Time is short, the end-of-days is near – as the holy apostles teach us, we want to live in such a way as to be ready for the coming of the Lord, Adonai, and yet more, we want to hasten the coming of the Lord, Adonai Messiah.

At times an entire world, and all living spirits and souls within it, might be taken up in the Great Resurrection and Ascension, the Great Transformation – with God, the Holy One of Being, anything is possible. Yet, just as we see in the gospel of Mother Nature, that is typically not what happens – just as with the young of many species that hatch or are born, and many never come to their fruition in life; in the same way, when a world-system comes to its natural end, and passes into destruction, no longer fostering life, some souls are drawn into the Path of the Great Ascension and some souls are not, never having come to fruition.

If and when we behold the signs that the end-of-days is drawing near we are wise to ensure that we establish ourselves in the Way, the Path of the Great Ascension, and do whatever we can to help others become established in the Way – we have every good reason to become passionate and zealous in the Gnostic and Light Transmission, and in spiritual works, laboring for the harvest of as many souls as possible before the end-of-days arrives.

If we see the signs, we know and understand that there is no time to waste!

Even if the end-of-days were not drawing near for the world, for all humanity, the same would be true, for still we live in the end times – this life is impermanent and the hour of death is destine for us all, and we all have a day of reckoning, or whatever one wishes to call it. If we have come into contact with a stream and lineage of Light Transmission, and been blessed with the precious gift of faith and the hope for enlightenment and liberation – the desire for it, then we have a very precious opportunity, truly priceless, and we do not want to squander it, for there is no assurance that we will have the same good fortune in the near future or our next life, especially if we waste the opportunity we have.

If we know and understand the opportunity we have, the grace in Christ we have, we will be very zealous for the spiritual life and practice, for the Life Divine, and we will live each day ready for the coming of the Lord, Adonai.

If we look into the Holy Gospel, and we look into the Book of Apocalypse, we will know and understand that this evolution is a movement towards liberation, transcendence – the Great Ascension; the fruition of which is the reintegration of souls with the Light Continuum, the pleroma of Atzilut.

It is not a material or worldly paradise that we seek or hope for, or to which we aspire, but something far more awesome and wonderful, something far more glorious and delightful, subtle and sublime – something spiritual and supernal.

Our hope in Christ is not a resurrection in the flesh, or in the chaos and darkness of matter, but it is a spiritual resurrection in a spiritual body, and more, a body of Supernal Light, Supernal Consciousness-Force, to which the flesh and material world is klippah, as is all of Asiyah, Yetzirah and Beriyah – the realm of perud, the Entirety.

Thus, we hear of the shattering of the klippot through the breaking of seven seals, sounding of seven trumpets and pouring out of seven bowls in the apocalypse, the process of the reintegration of the seven Sefirot of Construction of Asiyah, Yetzirah and Beriyah with those of Atzilut, the Supernal Abode.

That Holy Light that is above, however, is everywhere below, even in the material universe, for it is the secret center or spark within every particle of matter – reintegration is the actualization and release of this light-power bound up in everything, as we see in the revelation of the Risen Messiah and in the Book of the Apocalypse.

Here we may say, if I cleave to the klippot, and if I identify myself with the klippah, then with the shattering of the klippot I will experience being shattered, I will experience death and destruction; but if I cleave to the Holy Light, and to the Messiah and Shekinah of Messiah, and if I identify myself with the Holy Light, the Risen Messiah and Shekinah of Messiah, then the shattering of the klippot will be a sheer delight to me, pure joy, it will not be an experience of death and destruction, but illumination and liberation – the Great Exodus, the Great Ascension, reintegration with the Light Continuum, awakened.

Thus, in Christ, we labor for the realization of consciousness beyond the body and the capacity for the transference of consciousness into the body of light, and we labor for the development of the presence of awareness in all states of consciousness, throughout all transitions in consciousness, whether waking consciousness, sleep and dream, or death and the afterlife – union with the Clear Light Essence.

In this perhaps we might remember the teaching of St. Paul in his Letter to the Colossians, “So if you have been raised with Christ, seek things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Elohim). Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God (El). When Christ who is your life is revealed in glory, then you also will be revealed with him in glory” (3:1-4)

We might also remember his teaching concerning all things of the entirety and the world, “These things are only the shadow (klippah) of what is to come, but the substance (light) belongs to Christ” (2:17).

Again and again the holy apostles speak of our transcendence in the Risen Christ, our transcendence already accomplished in him; but in the Christian life we labor for its full actualization and realization in us, the fullest possible embodiment of the Christ presence and Holy Spirit, this Light-presence and Light-power, and we labor to draw it out of everything and everyone around us, all our relations.

If my life is in the Risen Messiah and Shekinah of the Messiah, and if I am in this world, but I am not of this world, of what concern is the way of the world to me, or of what concern is the darkness that rules it, or the evil, that is done in it? If I have any concern it is with the sorrow and suffering of souls, and the desire of the Sacred Heart to relieve it – the desire and labor for the salvation, the enlightenment and liberation, of as many souls as possible; as for the way of the world and its end in destruction, that is not my concern in Christ.

In this I do not mean to suggest that we do not seek justice, or that we do not labor for a greater good in the world – we can and we do in our daily lives, and it is integral to living in Christ and to the extension of the Light of Christ, the Gospel of Truth. It is with this view of transcendence, our life hidden with Christ in El Elyon, however, that we labor, liberated from self-cherishing, attachment and aversion, no longer as the doer, but Christ and the Holy Spirit in us doing everything, accomplishing all good works with, in and through us.

Now we shall say that the world is what it has always been, and although, indeed, ruled by darkness, ignorance, it is sacred as it is – this world and matter is like a womb giving birth to our holy soul actualized and realized in Christ, and it shall be as an empty tomb from which we are raised from death to life I the end-of-days.

If we want to know and understand the true progress of the world, it is the Risen Messiah, and it is the transcendence of souls, the ascension of souls, uplifted in him and reintegrated with the Light Continuum, Yahweh, in him – this is the true purpose and meaning of the world and this life, the awakening and redemption of souls, the realize and reintegration of holy sparks of Or Ain Sof, the Light of the Infinite. Whatever else we might speak of in terms of progress is whatever might help to facilitate this purpose, whatever might form a vehicle of this Gnostic and Light Transmission.

In this we may say that klippot have their role to play, for on account of sorrow and suffering, the ignorance is recognized, and the desire for the cessation of ignorance and for liberation is engendered.

As an example, perhaps you may recall how so many in America turned to God in the weeks after 9/11, filling churches, synagogues and temples around the country for a little while, seeking some refuge in a time of tribulation. Of course, as soon as the trouble seemed to pass, most who rushed into such places for refuge swiftly went right back out into the world, right back to the same old life as before, turning away from God once again. It does illustrate, however, the role of sorrow and suffering, not as a punishment from God, but for the sake of an education of souls and the cultivation of a desire for enlightenment and liberation, or for the knowledge of God and union with God.

It really is a perfect example, for in it we see that the judgment, that sorrow and suffering, is the consequence of our own actions, our own egoistic desires and fears in the play of cause and effect – the law.

Here we must say that two forms of the same old ignorance collided with one another on that fateful and tragic day – both of them being responsible for what happened.

In this world, in the ignorance, there can be no complete righteousness on either side of a conflict, therefore we must know and understand, and realize, our transcendence.

In this, per chance, we might know and understand something of the deeper mystery of the crucifixion, and teachings of Adonai Yeshua, such as “turn the other cheek,” and “do not resist evil.”

Thus, while, indeed, we do whatever we can to relieve suffering, we also recognize the role of suffering – without it, who among us would seek our freedom, our liberation?

In closing it might be good to remind that an apparently safe and happy slave is still a slave, only they have no motivation to seek their freedom. In this modern culture of Babylon that we live in it might be good to notice this, for in our consumerism and materialism, and love for vain entertainments, we are slaves to archonic powers and egoistic desires, worldly desires. You might say that we are slaves to our self-indulgence, our “happiness” from things that are passing away and that cannot give is lasting happiness or true joy.

May we remember our transcendence in Christ, and so embody the presence of Christ, walking in beauty and holiness in the world as a sign of spiritual hope for the people in good times and bad times – may the Light of the Spiritual Sun shine upon one and all alike. Amen.

Blessings & shalom!

Shalom friends!

Searching in the forum, I found this wonderful rich post our teacher wrote about a year ago. It speaks to me now even more than it did then, as it reminds us so clearly of our work here. It also seems to resonate well with what has been shared in the recent thread on returning to our roots:

http://www.sophian.org/forum/viewtopic. ... ight=#8171

In his post Tau Malachi reminds us:
“In this perhaps we might remember the teaching of St. Paul in his Letter to the Colossians, “So if you have been raised with Christ, seek things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Elohim). Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God (El). When Christ who is your life is revealed in glory, then you also will be revealed with him in glory” (3:1-4)”

May we always remember ourselves in Christ and in this remember Our Holy Root!

Many blessings,

Greetings Sister!

Thank you for this post. It has proven a timely reminder for us here, for we have been speaking lately of the worrying times in which we are living.

So +Malachi's post from 2009 will be the centre of our Shabbat discourse tomorrow.

I find it interesting regards the use of the two different words for God used in the Colossians quote, both within apparently similar and yet different contexts. Perhaps we can talk of this further, after consideration.

Within the constant company of the Shekinah of Messiah may we all see through this Shadowland into the True Light of the Real.

Shalom,
Susan

Shalom Sister Susan,

I am very glad that +Malachi's teaching about the end times speaks to you too at the moment. In it he reminds us
“Now we shall say that the world is what it has always been, and although, indeed, ruled by darkness, ignorance, it is sacred as it is – this world and matter is like a womb giving birth to our holy soul actualized and realized in Christ, and it shall be as an empty tomb from which we are raised from death to life in the end-of-days.”

If sometimes it seems hard for us to really see and feel this, I find his further reminder very helpful:
“Thus, on the occasion that we must speak of such things for our spiritual education and empowerment the masters of the tradition teach us that afterward we are to purify ourselves and banish, and turn to God, the True Light, and the Risen Messiah in prayer, and invoke the Divine Powers of the True Light, the Supernal Light.”

Thank you for initiating a contemplation of the meaning of the two different words for God in the Colossians quote. These are the thoughts that come to mind:

“So if you have been raised with Christ, seek things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Elohim).”

Elohim and the right side seem to imply restriction. Christ became the perfect vessel for the Light from above. In him it is restricted so that we can receive it. Otherwise we would be overwhelmed by it.

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God (El).”

El implies the pure grace of God without restriction. When we become aware of the inspirations of our Holy Soul, our Neshamah and come into contact with a lineage of light transmission this happens by pure grace. In it our true life is hidden. When we are initiated, we aim to set our mind on things that are above and turn away from things of the world. In surrender to the Light presence we open ourselves to love and compassion for others.

Christ restricted the light from above and by this action he embodied pure grace uniting the right and the left side out of love and compassion, Tiferet.

I would be happy to learn your thoughts on this, Sister, and the thoughts other friends like to share.

Gratefully,
Martina

Blessings to all in the Light of Messiah!
The analogy of birth speaks volumes to me. Usually a human birth is preceded by joyful celebrations, congratulations and many happy wishes for an easy birth and a healthy child. How much more so should we joyfully celebrate and uplift the impending birth of Supernal Consciousness in all beings!

Just as a mother usually knows the child already exists long before she goes into labor, so we know that the Child to be Born exists already, and the prophets continue to proclaim this truth. It is often hinted that we are in Eternal Shabbat now, and that it is our perceptions that keep us from realizing this day, the Day the Lord has made. This suggests to me that the awaited event is already accomplished. In perfect confidence, then, we attend to and labor together for this birth. What joy to surrender to the divine process, this gestation and birth in ourselves and in every being!
May all beings be happy!
Yeshua said to Mary, "Seek to know nothing, and seek to understand nothing; do not seek to be anybody. In this way you will acquire the perfection of wisdom."

Elohim and El

Greetings friends!

Thank you Martina for sharing those insights.

I have been contemplating the 17th Path linking Binah (Elohim), the Mother, to Tiferet, the Son and from this Sefirah down to Malkut, the Daughter. This is the Path of the master Yeshua Messiah coming into this world. And as you say, it is a path commencing in concentration, as suggested by the holy name of God, Elohim. Yet, as in the tzimtzum, from this concentration comes expansion, a space is made for creation to happen. The holy soul of Yeshua Messiah is born in and from Understanding and as Beauty he emanates as Lord, Adonai, in the Kingdom, Malkut.

So perhaps we can say that when St. Paul is encouraging us, as Followers of The Way to "seek things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God" he is guiding us to seek Divine Understanding, Imma, the Supernal Mother. When he asks us to seek transcendence above the things of this world he guides us towards El, Mercy, an expansion of consciousness indeed. It is interesting to note here that the Beatitude associated with mercy, "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy", corresponds to Tiferet, the Christ centre.

We can then read the verses by St. Paul as saying, Seek transcendence, through and as Christ, above the pull of this world and all its distractions and illusions. Aim for a return to your Holy Mother, Pure Understanding and through Mercy, the Christos within will be guided back home, Makom.

Interesting also that Binah to Keter is the 12th Path, corresponding to the Holy Letter Bet. This Path, Sekhel Bahir, is the Intelligence of Transparency or Light. Through this Path we return to the Pleroma of Light; here we are beyond Understanding and Wisdom, Imma and Abba, yet at the same time, never apart from them. How could we be?!

Bet, the body, the house, the great matrix of creation; and Binah, the underlying power by which all will come into being. These are certainly two great contemplations to further our studies on transcendence above the things of this earth.

So I will end here, at this Place of the Beginning. Shalom and blessings till we meet again!

Susan

Greetings friends!

First i would like expand on the child birth analogy. It is a very insightful one that even expresses the uniqeness of the "labor pains'' because even every birth has a different amount of time and intensity to it, even some children need extra post-natal care, but the results are eventually the same; a blessing entering the world. This has taking me even further to include everdody's own expirience with overcomming the klippotic forces finding their true selves.

My whole life I've always been taught about there is so much evil in the world, but as I've grown and my eyes have opened, my view of the world has changed. The more it has changed the more sadness I see, and, actually, less ''evil''. This life, to me, has been an existential crisis coping with just how meaningless everything in this world is. I was depressed until I found what actually exists inside of me. Dark smiles only shine half bright, but they still shine, right? These are just a few of the thoughts pounding in my brain, but these I felt I had to share.

Shalom and God bless you all for this wonderful contemplation
