Feast for the Righteous

#1 Postby Elder Gideon » Sat May 10, 2014 10:00 am

Shalom Tau Malachi:

Rabbi Shim'on opened, "God created the great sea serpents and every living creature that crawls, which the water smarmed, of each kind (Genesis 1:21). This verse has been established, but God created the sea serpents--as we have established: This is Leviathan and his mate. תַּנִּינִם, Sea serpents--spelled deficiently, because the blessed Holy One slew the female, preserving her for the righteous, as has been established.

In one context in the oral tradition of our lineage, Leviathan's mate is Behemot. Perhaps ours is a compressed image of the two, Leviathan personifying the desire-energy, the serpent-power, of all beings-forces manifest in Beriyah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah. Curiously, the word Behemot is a feminine plural of the singular behamah, which might be why she's personifying the Great Beast, herd-consciousness manifest in any material world unaware of the foundation of its existence. Their immensity powerfully begins God's rebuke of Job, chapters 40-41, where Leviathan and Behamot are described quite closely together, their creation being the first of the great acts of God (40:19).

The more deeply I look, the more varied this pairing of Leviathan and Behemot becomes in other contexts. A Talmudic perspective from Bava Batra 74b cites both Leviathan and Behemot each having mate: Every creature that the Blessed Holy One created in His world, He created male and female," citing Isaiah 27:1, which teaches of two serpents: On that day the Lord with his cruel and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea. Talmud expounds on Behamot as a great devourer, the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), who, like Leviathan, also has a mate. If Leviathan and Behamot had ever reproduced with their respective mate, the world could not exist. God slew the female of each, preserving it for a feast for the righteous in the time to come. The wierder the teaching, the deeper the secret it's guarding.

I'm very taken by this image of a feast as I remember teachings of the light of the first day of creation being withheld from the wicked and preserved, stored up for the righteous in the time to come: From ages past no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any Elohim besides you, who works for those who wait for him (Isaiah 64:3). We'll even see in the New Testament such images of a feast for the righteous, as in Revelations 19:9: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. In fact, the culmination of the Apocalypse is a great wedding feast. I've never thought to ask, On what?

Now the mystery on what the righteous are feasting becomes an even more incredible question, given what the Perfect Master teaches us in John 6: Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.

What may be corrected or added to detail this mystery of the righteous feasting in the World-to-Come?

Gratefully,

Elder Gideon

Shalom Elder Gideon and Friends,

What delight to see this post! You are circling into an ongoing contemplation in mind over the last week.

If I might add a question to fuel the contemplation? I pray that it does not distract!

Earlier in this section of Zohar, in speaking of Cain's offering, the blessed Rabbi Shim'on teaches:

And here, what is written? It happened at the end of days (Genesis 4:3)--not at the end of the right. Therefore, his offering was not accepted, being from the Other Side entirely.

[There is also a teaching regarding something of every offering, though intended for the Holy One, is offered to the Other Side, as an appeasement.]

The question that has been swirling is understanding our intentions, our offerings, and how we can apply this teaching to our own labor. It feels that to do so, some understanding of the mysteries of cleaving above and below is needed, which I feel fits with your question, Elder Gideon. What we are cleaving to and what we are feasting upon feel very much related, tying into the purification of our own intentions and offerings.

A thought that keeps returning in this contemplation is regarding Imma Shekinah as the Great Eagle. In considering the nest and the fledglings, or the Sefirot, it comes to mind that first the nest is empty. Perhaps the Blessed Rabbi Shim'on's teachings on bohu, empty, becoming bo hu, containing substance or beginning to exist is speaking of the empty nest? Ruach Elohim hovers over the face of the waters, until the nest is empty and containing substance, only then to begin to exist?

May these thoughts add to and not distract from this conversation.

With gratitude,

Sheryl

Grace and peace to you in El Shaddai!

Indeed, Leviathan and Behemah, or Behemot, are great mysteries of creation, the great forces of destruction, impermanence, and the bestial nature “red in tooth and claw,” violent. That the consorts of these two monstrous creatures are slain by Elohim indicates a diminishing or limiting of their power, and indicates mysteries of the End-Of-Days, which corresponds with Elohim. Just as if Hesed were not measured, and God did not restrain Godself, creation could not come into being and exist, so also if Gevurah were not measured, and Leviathan and Behemah were not restrained, creation could not come into being and exist; too great a manifestation of Hesed or Gevurah would overwhelm creation and creation would cease to exist.

This points to a truth of the great matrix of creation and this world. They exist based upon a dynamic balance and interaction of Hesed and Gevurah, Mercy and Judgment, or a play of light and darkness, good and evil, and as we know in this world there is great admixture, and great confusion of light and darkness, good and evil, and a great conflict of spiritual forces, divine, archonic and demonic. Thus, according to the Holy Scriptures, until the End-Of-Days and all is accomplished, darkness, evil, remains in the heavens and on earth – throughout the great matrix of creation, for this creates the conditions necessary for souls to individuate, develop and evolve, and become realized, and return to God, or to experience conscious unification with God.

All in a great and supreme mystery, archonic and demonic powers, the forces of the Other Side, play an integral role in creation and the fulfillment of Ratzon Elyon, the Will of the Supreme in it; and we may say that these admixed and dark forces are a secret operation of Ruach Elohim, the Spirit of God, all spiritual forces being the manifestation of the power of Ain Sof, the Infinite.

Now, you may read the passage in Isaiah as speaking of two serpents, the “fleeing serpent” and “twisting serpent,” and so draw out certain esoteric mysteries, but then you may also read this passage as speaking of two manifestations of one great serpent or force, for in the end it speaks of one great “sea dragon.” This will speak to other esoteric mysteries. You can read this in a number of ways, even as though it speaks of three personifications, two serpents and one dragon. These various ways of reading, interpreting the passage reveal different secret mysteries, and those mysteries are all interrelated, speaking of the very same Great Force in creation. The same is true of passages concerning Behemah, or Behemot, but understand, what Leviathan and Behemah personify is completely interdependent and interconnected, completely inseparable; ultimately one this is one Great, Immeasurable Force, manifest in these two aspects.

Understand, Leviathan corresponds with the entirety of the Other Side, the spiritual force, or desire-energy, of all the klippot, the archonic and demonic forces, and Behemah, or Behemot, corresponds with the emanation and manifestation, or presence and power, of that Great Force in creation, in the heavens and on earth, and in all realms, worlds and universes of creation (Perud). This is what Leviathan and Behemah personify in our Christian Kabbalah, though there is also another use of the name Leviathan in some teachings designating one of the four arch demons of the sacred circle, the klippah of the direction west in the circle. Understanding this, you will recognize that Leviathan and Behemah correspond with the adverse manifestation of Yahweh and the Shekinah; hence, the Force of the Infinite and Presence of the Infinite manifest as the Other Side, the dominion of the klippot, archonic and demonic forces.

This is the result of the restriction of Or Ain Sof, the Light of the Infinite, making space for creation, and the arising of the ignorance, the illusion of separation, the formation of the light and creation of darkness, the separation of light and darkness, as spoken of on the second day of creation; hence, the generation of the Realm of Perud from Yichud. There is no separation, duality, in Yichud, Adam Kadmon and Atzilut, but separation, duality, comes into being in Perud, Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah, and therefore in Perud there is this play of Yahweh and the Shekinah and Leviathan and Behemah; hence, the Spirit of Yahweh (Ruach Yahweh) and the Spirit of the Great Dragon (Ruach Leviathan).

Here we may speak an open secret. The Spirit of Yahweh and Spirit of the Dragon are, in fact, one Great Force manifesting as good or evil, light or darkness, and this corresponds with Ruach Elohim, Elohim containing all of this, Elohim manifesting as all of this, good and evil, light and darkness, the Tree of Life (Sefirot) and the Other Side (Klippot). To understand this you may consider the simplistic story of “Star Wars” and the “Force” used by the "Jedi" and those of the “Dark Side.” There was one Force, but there was a Dark Side of the Force; this is akin to Yahweh and Leviathan, Yahweh, the Force, Leviathan the “Dark Side of the Force.”

Thus, we may speak of Baal Shem, Masters of the Name, Yahweh, and we may speak of Baal Leviathan, Masters of the Dragon, the Other Side, and as you may intuit, a Master of the Name is also a Master of the Dragon, but a Master of the Dragon is not a Master of the Name, having fallen to the Other Side, the Side of the Left. The Baal Shem “ends on the right,” the realization of bornless being, eternal life, enlightenment and liberation, the Baal Leviathan “ends on the left,” in death and destruction, unconscious oblivion.

This, of course, is a very simplistic way of speaking about a great and supreme mystery, and a very vast and complex array of spiritual forces and realities, divine, archonic and demonic, all arising from the Primordial and Infinite One; hence, the great matrix of countless emanations of the One Being-Consciousness-Force that we call Yahweh Elohim, and by other Holy Names.

What this Great Force becomes, the various movements of this Great Force, and the realities woven, created, formed and made with it, depends upon what we do with it, and what all sentient beings do with it, as emanations of the Great Force, the One Life-Power, Yahweh Elohim. This Great Force can create and can destroy, can be manifest as good and as evil, and all manner of things in between, admixed, and with it, as emanations of it, all sentient beings, all living spirits and souls, are co-creators with the Infinite One, Yahweh Elohim, more or less, weaving the great matrix of creation through their force of will, or desire, and their thoughts, words and actions.

This Great Force manifest in enlightenment, or the awareness of the Infinite One and unification with the Infinite One, we call Yahweh, or Yeshua, and this Great Force manifest in ignorance, unenlightenment, we call Leviathan, or the Dragon.

This Great Force, the One Life-Power, is flowing through all and is manifest as all, good and evil, angels and demons, the righteous and the wicked alike, but from one to the other the movements and manifestations, or existences and realities generated, can be very different, heavens and hells can be created, and all manner of realities in between, and there can be an “end on the right,” the realization of bornless being or eternal life, or an “end on the left,” the second death or passing into the great destruction.

There is, indeed, a Great Judgment, but that judgment is not outside of us, or separate and apart from us, but rather it is in what we desire, what we love, and the existence and reality we create for ourselves. Living spirits and souls experience the realities they create with this Great Force, whether realities of life or death, light or darkness, good or evil, and this is the judgment.

Now, understanding this, let us consider what it means that Elohim has slain Behemah and that the “flesh of Behemah is stored up as a feast for the righteous in the End-Of-Days.” This, indeed, is as the Holy Light of the first day that is “stored up for the righteous,” the realization of the Simple Primordial Light (Clear Light) and Supernal Light – the Holy Light of the Messiah.

Listen and hear, and understand! There is one Great Force of the Infinite, Yahweh Elohim, but in the ignorance, the illusion of separation, this Great Force appears as though two, light and darkness, good and evil, Yahweh and the Shekinah and Leviathan and Behemot. Living spirits and souls journey through countless incarnations, realities, woven of this Great Force, in this play of light and darkness, good and evil, Yahweh and the Dragon, as they awaken and remember, and realize, their innate unity with the Infinite One, and realize all as the manifestation of the Infinite One – that there is, in truth, One Great Force, One Life-Power, and realize the Ain Nature of All, or Clear Light Essence of All, so they realize separation is illusory, unreal, and in this Leviathan and Behemot are transformed and uplifted, reintegrated with the Light Continuum, and the Infinite.

Essentially, as souls awaken and return to God, remembering, realizing, their innate unity with the Holy One, all incarnations in this play of light and darkness, good and evil are transformed and uplifted, and come to their fruition, their culmination, in conscious union with the Infinite and Eternal – the entire journey of the soul is reintegrated with the Light Continuum, and the soul is enlightened and liberated. This corresponds with “feasting on the flesh of Behemah,” the Great Beast, the ignorance and klippot having been overcome, enlightenment dispelling the illusion of separation and all klippot, husks of darkness. It is the cessation of the cause of all evil, all sorrow and suffering, and the gilgulim, the potentially endless transmigrations of the soul.

This is the fruition of repentance, or returning to God – the realization of conscious union with God, or God Consciousness.

Alternatively, God forbid, it may be that souls are devoured by Leviathan and Behemot, continuing in bondage to the ignorance, and potentially endless rounds of the gilgulim, through heavens and hells, and all manner of realities in between, and the play of birth, aging, illness and death, or destruction.

Thus there is the “end on the right” and “end on the left,” and there is Yahweh and Leviathan.

Yahweh means “That Which Was, Is and forever Shall Be” – Bornless Being, and Leviathan means “destruction,” the result of ignorance of our bornless nature, the illusion of separation.

This seems enough at the outset of our contemplation; here I will pause waiting upon the Holy Spirit.

Yahweh Shalom!

Shalom Tau Malachi:

Your clarification of these personifications of destruction as Leviathan, evidenced throughout all realms as the Great Beast--Behemot--is most profound. One only need consider the food chain in a material world to see the directness of this mystery. Spiritually and metaphysically, it doesn't stop at the material plane, but continues through invisible beings-forces preying upon or being prey to shifting beliefs, ideologies, and zeitgeists vying for expansion and influence. Everything is either eating or being eaten. As we scramble on this planet for renewable energy, even non-renewable helium fueling our and all stars in this cosmic cycle is being consumed. When depleted of their fuel, gravity will consume them. Beyond that, a greater, inconceivable force will collapse the very fabric of this cosmic cycle. There's always a bigger fish.

End on the Left as destruction makes new sense now, for if a soul does not learn to 'break gravity', meaning here to lift out of the literal and energetic food chain, there is nothing but death and dispersion; it is disintegration. End on the Right as a conscious return to the Holy One also makes new sense, for it requires these experiences of 'eating' and 'being eaten' through innumerable karmic exchanges for souls to suffer to choose to awaken from this predatory dream; it is integration. This takes me to Thomas 7: Jesus said, "Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so that the lion becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and the lion still will become human."

The One Life Power seems to either digest or illuminate. If eating or being eaten is inevitable through Perud, what really IS the Perfect Master's response from the Cross? When we regard the spiritual practice in our lineage of Three-fold Feast of Perfect Joy, which consciously feeds beings-forces with one's self, the Way initiated by the Perfect Master is illumination by self-offering. We too are to eat his flesh and drink his blood. How is feeding others with one's self the most ironic escape from the food chain?

Gratefully,

Elder Gideon

Grace and peace to you in Hayyah Yeshua!

The consuming, devouring, aspect of creation does, indeed, correspond with Behemah, the Great Beast, and as you have said dear brother, this reaches into metaphysical dimensions, reaching into Yetzirah and Beriyah; hence, all of Perud. Thus, the existence of spirits and souls in all realms, worlds and universes of Perud is impermanent, and are akin to material incarnations, so that when the karma and energy generating them is exhausted they come to an end. All existence in Perud is bound up in the ignorance and gilgulim, including the lower seven heavens manifest in Perud.

The body and blood of the Lamb of God corresponds with the influx and embodiment of the Supernal Light and Spirit, and the experience of oneness with the Sefirot and Yahweh, or the realization of the I Am (Eheieh), through which souls awaken and are liberated from Perud, or the illusion of separation and the gilgulim; “eating” of this body and “drinking” of this blood – light and fire, souls are established in the true kingdom of heaven, Malkut of Atzilut.

As we know and understand, the experience of Perud is an experience of separation from self and other, subject and object, oneself and the reality that appears, and this gives rise to self-cherishing and self-will, and the play of desire and fear in self-cherishing. In this ignorance the evil inclination, or inclination to violence, arises, the desire to consume, the desire to receive for self alone, and this gives rise to the Other Side, the dominion of the klippot, and bondage to the gilgulim, the potentially endless rounds of transmigration of souls.

As we have shared above, there is one Great Force, one Great Desire-Energy, but in Perud, in the illusion of separation, it manifests as two, the evil inclination, the desire to receive, and the good inclination, the desire to give, and apparently separate from one another they are in conflict, and generally speaking, in the ignorance, the illusion of separation, the evil inclination rules and holds dominion; hence, the darkness that rule this world in the unenlightened condition and society. If we consider the present humankind and human society in the unenlightened condition, and the plague of gross materialism and consumerism in unmitigated lust and greed, and the plight of the environmental holocaust underway in this world and dwindling resources, we can see that the evil inclination, or desire to receive, corresponds with an all consuming, devouring, digestive fire. In Yeshua Messiah, and other great holy and enlightened ones, we see something opposite, the desire to share or give, which corresponds with an illuminating fire – the desire of enlightenment and liberation.

Now, desire, the driving force of creation, in and of itself is not dark, evil or violent, Ratzon, “will” or “desire,” corresponds with the very first Sefirah of the Tree of Life, Keter-Crown; but when manifest in Perud, the illusion of separation, in effect it becomes two apparently conflicting forces and becomes divided against itself, so that there is the desire to receive divorced from the desire to give, and the desire to receive manifests apart from the desire to give, coming into dominion.

There is the play of the law of cause and effect – karma, and therefore, bound up in the desire to receive for self alone, the consuming or digestive fire, and consuming, digesting, we ourselves are eventually consumed, digested, expended, and this goes on and on, happening again and again; hence, the entire play of the gilgulim – it is fueled by this, driven by this.

As we know, there is a great force of desire-energy in us, the “serpent power,” and this may be turned downward and outward, and manifest in self-cherishing, and the play of desire and fear in self-cherishing, or this may be turned inward and upward, Godward, and manifest in self-offering and self-transcendence, and the fear and love of God, and the love of all creatures, “our neighbors.” This serpent power – the Force, pervades all things and is within all things in creation, and when turned downward and outward, and manifest in self-cherishing, the desire to receive divorced from the desire to give, this Universal Force is called Leviathan and Behemah (or Behemot), but when souls awaken, and it is turned inward and upward, Godward, this Great Force is manifest as Yahweh and the Shekinah – unification of the soul with the Sefirot and Yahweh.

Downward and outward, this is klippot, and this is the soul driven by desire and fear through countless rounds of incarnation, birth, aging, illness and death; inward and upward, this is the Sefirot, and the Supernal Abode – the eternal realm and eternal life, the realization of bornless being, the I Am.

Here we may speak an open secret. Downward and outward, inward and upward, turning away from God, turning toward God, the entire appearance of this is the manifestation of Perud, the illusion of separation. In the experience of oneness, or God Consciousness, this illusion is dispelled and brought to an end, for beholding God in everything and everything in God, there is God and Only God, and there is no other but God Alone (All-One). Contemplate this well, and understand!

Here we must say that at the outset, and throughout much of the journey on the Path of Return there is the relative truth of “turning away from God” or “turning towards God,” and the direction downward and outward or inward and upward, and there is a choice that we must make, choosing the Messiah and Yahweh. As long as we remain in self-grasping, and are the doer, the law of cause and effect remains at play and we must choose between good versus evil, or between returning to God or removing ourselves from God. In this we may recognize and realize God, Christ, within us, and God, Christ, within all, and so we may realize that there is no doer, that self is no self (Ani-Ain), and that God, Christ, is all and is the doer of all – in this we transcend the law of cause and effect, and there is no sin, no karma.

There is the desire to receive and the desire to give, and in truth this is one desire, receiving and giving fulfilling one another. Thus, there is no cutting off of the desire to receive, but rather, the desire to receive must be brought into the service of the desire to give, and must be joined to the desire to give, so that there is one Holy Desire – all desire directed to God, or uplifted to God.

If we are aware of God, the source of all and Sacred Unity underlying all, and we love God and love all, and we give ourselves to God and to all, so all desire is uplifted to God – we become unified with Yahweh, Yeshua, and the Holy Shekinah rests upon us, and manifests as us. Souls are uplifted in the Great Resurrection and Ascension in this way, for as souls uplift their desire to God and love God, and so love one another, the Spirit of God uplifts them, and enlightens and liberates them, reintegrating them with Yahweh Elohim, the Light Continuum and Infinite One.

The truth is that there is a movement, an evolution, within creation towards the Highest of Life, and towards the eventual transcendence of the need for living spirits and souls to incarnate in physical, material dimension; hence, an evolution to higher, more refined and self-aware life, with greater and greater intelligence, and a progressively subtler and more sublime existence, or state of being. We are intended, and destined, to ascend and transcend our need, or compulsion, for incarnation in the material world and universe, and so also the astral and spiritual worlds and universes, and to realize our supernal and primordial root in the Infinite and Eternal.

It must be said, until we realize our supernal and primordial being – our bornless nature, there is Mercy in the appearance of Judgment, or Mercy in the manifestation of Leviathan – death and destruction, for whatever form and reality we may become bound up in does not last forever, but eventually we are set free to move on and continue our journey, our evolution, to the Highest of Life or the Infinite One. This is why in Job Ha-Shem praises Leviathan as the “greatest of all creatures,” for this force of bondage, destruction, also serves to facilitate creative evolution, and the eventual enlightenment and liberation of souls.

In this, perhaps, you may understand that things are not as they seem to us in the ignorance and illusion of separation, but reality as it appears to us, and even God as God appears to us, is itself illusory, unreal, false. We become bound up in karmic vision, or limited mentalities, of self-grasping, desire and fear, and all of the misperceptions that generate preconceptions, preconditions and expectations that prevent us from looking and seeing, and listening and hearing, Reality as It Is and God as God Is; even our most noble and lofty speculations about Reality and God – our theologies and religious self-identifications, along with most of the grand ideologies and philosophies we create, tend to be bound up in this ignorance (demiurge), and may serve to reinforce it and perpetuate it.

When we become aware of the plight of souls in bondage to the ignorance and gilgulim, and the Great Force manifest as Leviathan and Behemot, and the great conflict of spiritual forces that compose Perud, the matrix of creation, so we may understand the need for divine intervention for the salvation of souls, the need for the Savior, or Great World Teachers, the intersession of tzaddikim and maggidim, or “saints and angels,” and the ongoing incarnation of the holy and enlightened ones, or messengers of God.

The body and blood of the Lamb of God, the self-offering of Adonai Yeshua Messiah, is the full manifestation of this divine intervention – the realization and embodiment of the I Am, and the imparting of the Holy Light and Spirit (Fire) through which souls are awakened, and the serpent power is awakened, uplifted and redeemed, or brought into cessation.

When a soul awakens through the reception of the Spirit of God, and the serpent power is awakened, uplifted and redeemed, and God Consciousness dawns, understand, that holy one, that tzaddik, is able to merge their serpent power with the serpent power in other creatures and their environment, and so are able to stir, awaken and uplift, the serpent power in living spirits and souls, uplifting them in return to God; hence, they become a channel, vehicle, of the Great Force, Yahweh, Leviathan – a Master of the Name, who is also a “Master of the Dragon.”

In this, perhaps, you will understand the power of Mercy and Judgment, and Compassion, that is given to the holy apostles, or anointed tzaddikim, in the upper room when the Risen Messiah appeared and imparted the Holy Light and Spirit to them; hence, their empowerment as co-saviors, co-redeemers, initiating, uplifting and guiding others in the Way, the Path of Return.

As has been said, even the most lofty speculation about Reality and God – theologies and religious self-identifications, tend to remain bound up in the ignorance and perpetuate karmic vision, or limited mentalities, that hinder and prevent actual spiritual realization, or the enlightenment and liberation of souls. Thus, there is a need for Light Transmission – initiation and spiritual empowerments, dispelling karmic vision, the vision of ignorance, imparting the vision of experience, and opening the way for pure vision, the realization of oneness, or the Divine I Am. The acceptance of theologies, or dogmatic religious creeds and doctrines, and the generation of religious self-identities, does not enlighten and liberate souls, but rather the enlightenment and liberation of souls requires direct spiritual and mystical experience of the Truth and Light, the experience of true Christ Consciousness, God Consciousness; hence, the need for initiation and spiritual empowerments that facilitate direct spiritual and mystical experience, the “Gnostic experience of Christ.”

As we contemplate and discuss the One Great Force manifest as Yahweh and Leviathan, it must be said that this does not negate the relative reality of light and darkness, good and evil, and the need to turn away from evil and falsehood and to choose what is good and true; this awareness of One Great Forces does not mean that we would give way to evil, or God forbid, enact what is evil and false calling it “good.” As St. Paul teaches us, there is a very real conflict, or battle, between good and evil in Perud – it is a relative reality in the lower heavens and this world, and we are wise, as he teaches us, to “put on the full armor of God” and take our “stand against the Adversary,” the spirit of the Other Side. This, though, as he teaches is not a battle against flesh and blood, but rather against spiritual forces of evil established in celestial, or heavenly places, and the nature of this “battle,” or struggle, is in the mastery of our thoughts and desires, and how we choose to manifest this Great Force, this One Life-Power.

This great conflict must be resolved inwardly, within us, the evil inclination being brought into the service of the good inclination, so that receiving we give, and instead of enacting violence we seek to bring peace, looking and seeing God in everything and everything in God.

Let us consider the outer manifestation of the wedding feast, or the feast of bread and wine as the body and blood of the Lamb, understanding the Light Transmission as the inner manifestation. In it we are remembering, and celebrating, our experience of Light Transmission, the Truth and Light revealed to us, and we are remembering our transcendence, setting our minds on those things that are above, and remembering that God is always with us, that God is within us and all around us, in everything and everyone. Thus, it is our empowerment to overcome klippot, spiritual forces of evil, and to return to God, and to deliver others from klippot and uplift others in return to God – the Great Work.

Here it seems good to pause and abide, waiting upon the Holy Spirit!

May the serpent be crucified in us, and may we be uplifted with the Risen Christ! Amen.

Yahweh Shalom!

Re: Feast for the Righteous

#6 Postby Elder Sarah » Fri May 16, 2014 9:17 pm

Shalom!

Praise God for shining light on such mysteries!

Thank you Tau Malachi and Elder Gideon for drawing upon this very subtle and sublime contemplation.

In looking into this verse in Zohar I am intrigued to ask if I am understanding correctly.
Rabbi Shim'on appears to be speaking a mystery that asks, how can there be two serpents if one of them was slain by Elohim and stored up for the righteous? This seems to speak or ask how in fact is Behemoth experienced if this “sea serpent” is slain and stored up for the righteous? Hinting that the power of Behomoth and Leviathan exist in a world that does not fully exist, therefore existing in shards or fractures of what is not true?

Later in the same section it is mentioned,

"And if his female stood beside him, the world could not endure them; so before the Blessed Holy One slew the female, the earth was Tohu va-vohu, waste and empty- it was tohu, waste; after the Holy One slew her, it was Bohu, 'containing substance, beginning to exist."

This almost begins to hint that the two are held in a sort of suspension in order for the world to exist. That in a way there is a world of Tohu and a world of Bohu? Can we say this existence is the feast of the righteous? I am intrigued too at the mystery of there being Righteous Ones to feast on the slain Behemoth. This act of there being those to feast and the feasting itself seems absolutely essential for the balance of Mercy and Judgement to be sustained here. I am reminded of the mystery that there must be at least ten righteous ones incarnate at any one time for the world to exist. This speaks much of the role of the Righteous and the need for a “Master of the Name” to engage the great work.

Another question is arising concerning the book of Job and the chapter that describes Behemoth and Leviathan. In reading this chapter, it becomes noticeable that the Lord is revealing the whole of the body of these two. It was mentioned recently in our Zohar discourse, that Job was perhaps a Master of the Dragon before, and then, through the whole movement of his story, he began to receive instruction on becoming the Master of the Name. This becomes very curious, for, when one studies the whole book of Job, it appears the whole movement is about Job surrendering to the will of Hashem. Almost as if he is being called out of the notion that he as the “power” on his own and a surrendering to Gods power. I find his repentance at the end of the book very illuminating in this regard,

"I know you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 'Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you declare to me.' I had heard of you by the hearing of t he ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes."

Can we hear this repentance hinting at the slaying of Behemoth, the coming into being of a Master of the Name? This slaying being a self-offering that surrenders the grasp on desire energy to the Holy One?

May the Righteous be increased and strengthened fulfilling the will of the Holy One!

Shalom,
Elder Sarah

Grace and peace to you in Yahweh and Yeshua!

In truth, creation is ongoing, it is a continuous movement of Ruach Elohim, and as such, Elohim has slain, is slaying and will slay, the female of Leviathan.

Leviathan and Behemah are indeed connected with Tohu and Bohu, chaos and void, and this corresponds with the klippot in the primordial universe at the outset of the creation of this great cosmic cycle; hence the shards and refuse of countless universes having passed into destruction, all retained in some great and mysterious way in the groundless ground of the primordial.

All in a mystery, these great powers are in the primordial reality at the very outset of creation, just as is the simple primordial light, along with Ruach Elohim. The influx of these great powers into creation does not happen until the second and fifth cosmic days of creation however, with the separation of the firmaments and the manifestation of darkness, evil, on the second cosmic day, and the creation of the two great sea monsters in the ocean of consciousness on the fifth cosmic day. There is, of course, no speaking of the reality of the primordial universe, for it is a realm of the infinite potential of all, existing and not existing, “outside,” as it were, of space and time, and existence as we would understand it; hence, it is a reality beyond all of the countless universes, or great cosmic cycles, and yet, in some mysterious way touching into them all, all emerging from within the primordial universe (Adam Kadmon) and the Infinite One (Ain Sof).

The Rabbi Isaac Luria, blessed be his name and memory, alludes to this great and supreme mystery of the primordial universe when he teaches that the eight Kings of Edom, the Great Klippot, have their root in the primordial universe, the primordial Sefirot, Da’at to Malkut of Adam Kadmon. As we know, in order for Atzilut, and Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah to come into being, there had to be a play of restriction and shattering of the primitive, primordial Sefirot, and an activation of the shards, husks, of Sefirot of previous cosmic cycles or universes created and destroyed, a stirring and shift from a singularity, unconscious primordial unity, into the actual, or emanation, creation, formation and action. This corresponds with the movement of Ruach Elohim, over, and within and through, the primordial depths, followed by the first holy utterance of creation, “Let there be light.”

The Supernals of Adam Kadmon, Keter-Hokmah-Binah do not shatter, but Da’at to Malkut shatter; Keter abides unmoved, unaffected, inseparable from the Infinite, Ain Sof, and Hokmah and Binah fracture, but do not shatter, abiding inseparable from Keter, the Holy Crown of Adam Kadmon. The tikkune, mending, of this fracturing and shattering of the Sefirot of Adam Kadmon is the Sefirot of Atzilut, but all in a great and supreme mystery, there is a need for the Realm of Perud, or Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah, for the realization of the infinite potential of the Sefirot of Atzilut, the Names of God and Partzufim, and therefore this process of the formation of Vessels and their shattering continues through Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah. If creative evolution – creation, is ongoing, so also is this process of tzimtzum, restriction, and shiverat ha-kelim, shattering of vessels, as is their tikkune, their mending or realization.

Consider this. Leviathan, “destruction,” and his female, corresponds with this Great Force of the shattering of the vessels, destruction of vessels, and this is integral to creation. Just as the Light of the Infinite, and the power of Hesed-Mercy, must be restricted for creation to come into being, so also this power of destruction and darkness, this power of Gevurah-Severity, or Din-Judgment; otherwise creation could not come into being and endure, and the potential of the Infinite One, the Sefirot of Adam Kadmon and Atzilut, could not be actualized and realized, and embodied. The slaying of the female of Leviathan, or Behemah, this corresponds with a limitation, or measuring, of this force of destruction, Judgment, along with the restriction, or measuring, of the force of creation, Mercy; when separation happens on the second cosmic day, evil, the husks of darkness, is activated, and the play of good and evil, and admixture, is set into motion within the matrix of creation.

The great matrix of creation – the Entirety or Realm of Perud, is founded upon this play of Mercy and Judgment, or creation and destruction, or light and darkness, or good and evil; and as much as this Great Force of the Infinite One is manifest and realized in the matrix of creation, so there is infinite potential ever beyond, unmanifest.

Now, it is said that the holy light of the first cosmic day – primordial and supernal light (enlightenment), is stored up for the righteous, for those who cleave to the Sefirot and Yahweh, and who seek conscious unification with Yahweh; they become enlightened, realized, and liberated – Messiah, Anointed. Likewise, we are taught that these holy and enlightened ones, these saints or tzaddikim, are given the power of Mercy and Judgment, that they are seated, enthroned, in Judgment when the End-Of-Days comes; hence, “feasting on the flesh of the female of Leviathan,” or Behemah.

To “sit in Judgment,” a soul must pass through the Judgment, and Judgment and Mercy, Yahweh and Elohim, must be unified within that soul, and the soul must be unified with Yahweh Elohim. This corresponds with Yahweh Elohim Tzavaot becoming Yahweh Elohim, Shaddai, as written in the Book of Apocalypse; the Lamb of God, the Messiah, being the vehicle of this realization of the power of Shaddai, the Almighty.

All that is good and true – all righteousness, all that is realized, is gathered into the World-To-Come, and New Jerusalem, and all that is evil and false – all unrighteousness, and that remains unrealized, is cast out; thus, all that is realized and reintegrated with Yahweh abides in the eternal realm, the Pleroma of Light, and all that is not realized and reintegrated passes into the Great Destruction to arise again in another great cosmic cycle, until eventually realized in another universe or great cosmic cycle. In this you may understand that there is a play of the gilgulim, or transmigration, between universes, or great cosmic cycles, much as there is a play of the gilgulim of spirits and souls through countless incarnations within a great cosmic cycle, and whether a spirit or soul is enlightened and liberated or remains bound up in the gilgulim when the End-Of-Days comes, whether to a world or universe, this is the Great Judgment – liberation, eternal life, or the continuation of bondage to the gilgulim, death and destruction.

There is no eternal damnation, however, though indeed, the continuation of bondage, ignorance, is immeasurable sorrow and suffering, and the gilgulim corresponds with potentially endless rounds of transmigration through countless lives, in countless realms, worlds and universes.

Here we may speak an open secret. The slaying of the female of Leviathan, or Behemah, and the flesh stored up for the righteous, teaches us that salvation is universal in the Messiah, and that eventually, all living spirits and souls will be enlightened and liberated, whether in this world or another, or in this universe or another; hence, creation is not oriented to bondage, ignorance, but to liberation, enlightenment (Habad). Praise God!

That Elohim slays Behemot means that this salvation, or redemption, comes through the power of God, through the Messiah and Holy Spirit (Ruach Elohim, Ruach Yahweh); hence, Divine Intervention, Divine Grace. Indeed, as Ha-Shem teaches Job in his rebuke, apart from the power of Ha-Shem, The Name, who shall “go fishing for Leviathan,” or master the Dragon? It is only through the power, the might, of God and the warriors of heaven, the angels, that this can be accomplished – Shaddai, the Almighty.

Here, perhaps, we may recall that the Name of Shaddai has a deep connection with Enoch-Metatron, the Great Ascension and awakening, tikkune, of Adam Kadmon.

Here we may speak another secret mystery concerning Leviathan. Adam Kadmon is asleep and dreaming, and this great cosmic cycle, and all great cosmic cycles, is as the dream of Adam Kadmon, and is Adam Kadmon in the process of awakening and realizing oneness, conscious unification with the Infinite One, Yahweh Elohim, Shaddai. You may contemplate Leviathan as the serpent power of Adam Kadmon – the Primordial Human Being, unenlightened, needing to be awakened, sublimated, uplifted and redeemed, reintegrated with the Infinite (Ain Sof). This Great Force awakened and uplifted corresponds with the realization of the Sefirot and unification with Yahweh – Ruach Yahweh, Ruach Elohim; if awakened in a soul, the power of Shaddai is with that soul, an unimaginably Great Force, as we see with Messiah Yeshua in the resurrection.

There is this Great Force awakening in you, there is this Great Force pervading the entire universe, and this Great Force reaches into the primordial and supernal universes; this Great Force awakening in you is inseparable from this Great Force in creation, in all, and in the primordial and supernal universes – Adam Kadmon and Atzilut. This is the truth of the essence, nature, and the force of your soul as you are in the Light Continuum and the Infinite One; but this essence and nature must be recognized and realized, and this Great Force must be awakened and reintegrated with Yahweh Elohim, the Light Continuum and the Infinite One.

Now, Behemot, plural, on one level this corresponds to all of the countless incarnations of souls – the countless forms assumed and lives lived as souls develop and evolve, and become realized and embodied. Until a soul is realized, enlightened and liberated, in effect, these incarnates are unreal, and the soul “does not appear” in the Supernal Abode and World-To-Come. When a soul awakens, is realized, is enlightened and liberated, however, all incarnations of the soul are redeemed and uplifted, and they are realized, reintegrated with the Light Continuum and the Infinite One – they become real, and “they appear” in the Supernal Abode and World-To-Come.

When a soul becomes realize, all previous incarnations are gathered in.

This is another understanding of the righteous feasting in the flesh of Behemot, the uplifting of all incarnations in return to God, the reintegration of all incarnations with the Infinite and Eternal – all being made real, eternal. Praise God!

Job is much like Noah, he is accounted as righteous, tzaddik, in his generation, a rather troubled generation, but in another generation, a more noble generation, he might be accounted as an intermediate soul, benoni; hence, my comment about Job’s weakness early on in the story in Zohar discourse.

May Ratzon Elyon be fulfilled on earth! Amen.

Shaddai Shalom!

Leviathan was released for joy in the world

#8 Postby Elder Gideon » Sun May 18, 2014 10:13 am

Shabbat Shalom Tau Malachi!

I'm enthralled by your response to Elder Sarah's questions of Leviathan and Behamah associated with Tohu and Bohu. If I remember correctly your citing the Ari's teaching of this moment in Bereshit (Genesis), Tohu and Bohu is its own olam-universe, something of the shattered olam of Adam Kadmon "before" being rectified as Atzilut. For further clarification, have I heard the Ari's teaching correctly that the former sefirot of Adam Kadmon were likened to a vertical line, without any ability to interrelate? Is this same inability to relate why the Ari roots the Kings of Edom to these sefirot? If so, the three pillars we begin to associate with their rectification as Atzilut opens up more detail as to how mercy and severity and compassion gradate the rungs by which souls may choose to awaken desire energy inward and upward. Like a trail or highway cutting perpendicularly up a steep slope, the most sustainable way to ascend is by zig-zagging, switching back and forth. As gradients like this ease gravity's resistance as one climbs in the physical plane, so it must be true in our soul's ascent as well. Desire is managed between these three pillars, forming a gradient for us all.

These olamot shattered and rectified are all arrayed be degrees of desire. What threads them is one desire, personified in rabbinics by Leviathan. In the Zohar 2:11b, this desire energy is linked with Yesod and Leviathan: "From the house of Levi--Blessed Holy One, the place where Supernal Wisdom and that river join as one, never separating. From this house of Levi, Leviathan was released for joy in the world, as is written: Leviathan whom You formed to play with (Psalm 104:26). The psalm is a proof-text throughout Zohar for Leviathan's personification of desire, particularly as it compels us sexually.

The spelling of Leviathan, according to Daniel Matt's footnotes, show that the root word לוה is "to accompany, join." This is particularly stunning to me when I remember that וה completes the Great Name from its primordial, 'childless' state as יה: Yah. From within Creation, Lamed drives, compels, pushes by the simple desire to grow, expand, and become. If this weren't already enough, the letters for this root verb לוה are the same, but in a different order for the Sixty-Third Name of Hasidim! הול is a phenomenally resonant Name with this very context of awakening desire. It's a blessing for reintegration, "a Secret Name of the Holy Shekinah and Holy Spirit as the great force within and behind the play of Creative Evolution," and it's curse for disintegration, appearing four times about a central scorpion in the Fifth Seal of Madim (Mars).

What more may this root word לוה elicit in our contemplation of the force of desire personified by Leviathan?

Gratefully,

Elder Gideon

Re: Feast for the Righteous

#9 Postby Tau Malachi » Thu May 22, 2014 4:07 pm

Grace and peace to you in Yahweh Elohim, Shaddai!

At the outset, the primitive Sefirot of Adam Kadmon were arrayed as a single line, in an unfathomable singularity, and as such, those corresponding with the Kings of Edom did not have any way to relate and interact with ones another to integrate the influx of the Supernals. Thus, they had no way of tikkune, rectification, mending, or realization, and, overwhelmed by the influx of the Supernals, they shattered. Their shattering gives rise to Olam Tohu Ve-Bohu, the deep of chaos and void, another primordial reality that is incomprehensible, or unfathomable.

As we know, the Sefirot of Atzilut, arrayed in three lines, or pillars, corresponding with the Names of God and Partzufim, are the tikkune, the rectification or realization of the Sefirot of Adam Kadmon. Understanding this, Ruach Elohim moving over the surface of the deep, and the utterance of Elohim, “Let there be light,” on one level corresponds with the generation of the Sefirot of Atzilut, and the outset of the generation of Perud, Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah. Thus, on one level, when it is taught that the “light of the first day is stored up for the righteous” we may understand this to mean that the realization of the World of the Sefirot, the Sefirot of Atzilut, is destined for the righteous; hence, the true kingdom of heaven, the great Pleroma of Light.

This we understand from the Gospel and the revelation of the Risen Messiah, whose Mystical Body is composed of the Holy Sefirot, the spiritual and supernal power of the Names of God and Partzufim, and all that corresponds with them; hence, the realization of the Sefirot of Atzilut, full Supernal Realization – Messianic Consciousness.

Listen and hear, and understand! Ruach Yahweh, Ruach Elohim, corresponds with Ratzon, or desire-energy, manifest as the Sefirot, while Leviathan corresponds with desire-energy manifest as the klippot of the Sefirot, husks or shells of Divine Attributes. In Yichud, Adam Kadmon and Atzilut, Ruach Elohim and Leviathan are inseparable from one another, but in Perud they are divided, separated, as it were, this one Great Force becoming two, good and evil, and admixture. Leviathan is desire manifest as the klippot, and not the Sefirot; but, we can say this, if the Sefirot of Beriyah, Yetzirah and Asiyah (Perud) are understood as klippot to the Sefirot of Atzilut (Yichud), then we may understand that Leviathan is within the Sefirot of Perud, and that they correspond with the interplay of Ruach Elohim and Leviathan.

The Sefirot proper, though, are the manifestation of Ruach Elohim, while the entirety of the klippot is Leviathan. Contemplate this well, and understand!

The force and manifestation, and dominion, of Leviathan, increases from one Olam to another, so that it is greater in Yetzirah than Beriyah, and yet greater in Asiyah that Yetzirah; hence, the increase of the illusion of separation and darkness or evil as one Olam after another of Perud becomes manifest, the power and dominion of Leviathan increasing in the matrix of creation.

This is in the root of the name of Leviathan you have mentioned, Lamed-Vau-He; Yetzirah and Asiyah, the two Olamot corresponding with of the greatest power and dominion of Leviathan.

As we know, Lamed indicates the driving force of creative evolution, and set before Vau-He indicates the compulsion of spirits and souls into incarnation, and bondage to the astral and material universes, Yetzirah and Asiyah; the nature of this bondage is a driving toward death and destruction, Leviathan. In the midst of this bondage relatively few souls ascend into the spiritual universe, Beriyah, let alone the supernal universe, Atzilut, but the evil inclination dominates them, which is to say impure thoughts and desires – a karmic continuum of ignorance, the illusion of separation, and so they are bound up in potentially endless rounds of birth, life, aging, illness and death; hence, perpetual destruction, Leviathan.

It must be said, however, all in a great mystery, this principle of Leviathan serves Yahweh Elohim and Ratzon Elyon, the Will of the Supreme, and although a manifestation of Strict Judgment, the Great Mercy of God is in it, for all states of existence into which souls become bound will come to an end; therefore, souls are not bound up in them forever, but eventually are released to move on to another experience, another existence. Thus, for example, there is no eternal damnation, and the experience of hell realms does not last forever, though indeed, they may seem to last for a very long time to souls bound up in them. Eventually, however, all souls that become caught up in hell realms, and such, will be delivered from them and will pass into another state of existence. Thus, for souls in bondage there is Mercy in Strict Judgment, allowing souls to continue their development and evolution towards the Highest of Life.

Understanding Lamed-Vau-He in this way, the power of this Name of God that you have mentioned becomes clear. It is the opposite, and as such, it is a Name for the liberation of souls and the uplifting of souls in return to God – a force of the ascension of spirits and souls. As we have said, in the unenlightened condition spirits and souls become bound up in the astral and material universes, and they are not able to ascend into the spiritual universe, let alone the supernal universe. Through the power of this Holy Name of God, however, spirits and souls may be uplifted into the spiritual universe, and perhaps glimpse the supernal universe, so as to desire and seek it; hence, being set upon the Path of Return. In this, perhaps, you may understand that the spiritual power in this Name of God purifies thought and desire, liberating from impure thoughts and desires, which is the cause of the bondage of souls, their karmic vision or limited mentalities.

He-Vau-Lamed, a Name invoking repentance, or return to God – a power of the Almighty delivering spirits and souls, and drawing them in ascent, uplifting them into return to God.

Very specifically, though, this corresponds with Simple Mercy, or measured blessing, when invoked with this intention, for it is drawing spirits and souls into the experience of the spiritual universe or dimension, not the supernal universe or dimension; hence, an uplifting in return to God that is accessible to many spirits and souls, and that they are able to receive. As we know, an ascent of the soul into Beriyah, or the spiritual universe, is not the full enlightenment and liberation of the soul – Leviathan remains at play in Beriyah, as has been said; and yet, souls are brought nearer to Yahweh Elohim in Beriyah, and they are set upon the Path of Return, the desire for enlightenment and liberation being sparked in them, and from Beriyah it is possible that a soul might glimpse Atzilut, opening the way for Supernal Mercy, Supernal Grace, or a Thunderbolt Enlightenment.

Understand though, the seven heavens below, just as the seven earths and seven hells, and all realms and worlds in between, are all the manifestation of the gilgulim, and the bondage of souls in the ignorance, the illusion of separation, and as such, something of the power and dominion of Leviathan is in them. This is why St. Paul writes that spiritual forces of wickedness are established in celestial or heavenly places, and why in the Book of Apocalypse, in the End-of Days, we are told of a “war in the heavens” and the casting out of Satan and his angels from the heavens by Michael and his angels. In this you may understand that the power of Leviathan reaches into the seventh heaven of the lower heavens, or the inmost heaven of the spiritual universe, Arabot. This is why for the salvation of the world, the enlightenment and liberation of souls, the Messiah, the Savior, emanates from the eight heaven, beyond the seven heavens, or from the upper heavens in the Supernal Abode, Atzilut; emanating and incarnating, running and returning, descending and ascending, the Messiah reveals the true kingdom of heaven – enlightenment and liberation, and uplifts souls into it. Praise God!

Look and see! When the Risen Messiah appears, the realization of the Sefirot of Atzilut and manifestation of Malkut of Atzilut, the dominion of Leviathan, or death and destruction, is brought to an end, souls being given full power over Leviathan, and uplifted beyond the reach of Leviathan – able to “play” with Leviathan through the power of Shaddai, the Almighty, or through unification with the Messiah in Yahweh Elohim. This corresponds with the Perfect Master of the Name, and the full mastery, or pacification, enrichment, subjugation and transformation of the Dragon, Leviathan; or all klippot, all archons and demons.

In this we may recall teachings in the Pistis Sophia of the Risen and Ascended Christ subjugating and diminishing the power of great archons and demons, and increasing the power of archangels and angels of God, the True Light – this is the action of a Master of the Name in the Messiah, the Anointing; hence, Masters of the Blessed Name, Yeshua.

As we know, the full power of the 144 Names of God is made manifest in the Risen Messiah. All in a mystery consider this. If invoked in the Blessed Name, He-Vau-Lamed becomes an invocation of the power of Shin in the Blessed Name, swift Supernal Influx and Abundant Mercy – the potential of Thunderbolt Enlightenment.

He-Vau-Lamed, He and Vau uplifted to Shin, and through the power of Shin, the realization of Yod-He (Yah). What is this? It is the realization of the inseparability of the Pleroma and Entirety, or Yichud and Perud; hence, the realization of Ruach Yahweh and Leviathan as one Great Force – Ruach Elohim. Amen.

May many living spirits and souls receive their anointing this day, and be set upon the Path of Return. Amen.

Shaddai Shalom!
