Non-sequential eternal awareness and sequential temporal awareness

#1 Postby SGA » Thu Mar 02, 2017 11:59 am

Greetings all,

I wanted to ask your thoughts regarding non-sequential awareness ( eternity ) and the sequential temporal world of time where one thing follows another.

How are the events of 'all time' illuminated by eternally aware consciousness?

For example, like a baseball being hit in the air and a camera following it all the way through it's trajectory so too are all things seen / witnessed by awareness.

How are all events *eternally* present non-sequentially if they are always occurring within the *same space*?

For example, a particular individual doing something is a series of actions one following another, but that person is occupying the same space when performing those actions?

How then is any series of actions or any series of events eternally witnessed ( non-sequentially ) if all those events and actions are occupying the same space?

I would love to know your thoughts from the point of view of the Kabbalistic teachings.

With Kind Regards,

Scott

Shalom Scott!

There are some mysteries that, in truth, cannot be explained, but in truth are “secret” in the sense that knowledge and understanding of them can only be acquired through prayer and meditation and the direct spiritual and mystical experiences that come in deep prayer and meditation; hence, mysteries that cannot be spoken, “save to one who knows already,” such as mysteries of the merkavah (Works of the Chariot).

Through experience of cosmic consciousness and supernal consciousness - God Consciousness, we can acquire knowledge and understanding of this mystery through direct experience, likewise, in moments of inner gradations of Light Transmission with a living tzaddik, or powerful movements of the Holy Spirit uplifting our soul in mystical ascent, or at times, for some, during near-death experiences, insights into this great mystery may be acquired.

The mystery of the interconnection of timeless-eternity and time-eternity, or the eternal realm and space-time, is certainly among those mysteries that cannot be explained, but are only known and understood through direct experience, or revelations of the Spirit of God and heaven.

There is a hint we can give, though.

The reality of our experience on every level is a radiant display of our mind, consciousness or soul, and all that arises and appears, and transpires, arises, appears and transpires in consciousness - it’s all a manifestation of consciousness, all in consciousness, the expression of different dimensions of consciousness; hence, all arising in a “single space” - consciousness.

In this regard the reality of our experience truly is “dream-like.”

Understand that there are countless gradations of higher, more expanded consciousness and greater intelligence reaching into the Infinite and Eternal - all of these gradations are interconnected, and are expressions of One Being-Consciousness-Force, the source and foundation of all.

Hello,

Thank-you for your response above.

When trying to understand the difference between the temporal and eternal it is better then to acknowledge that there is no such thing as a "universe" or even "space" as these are just terms and labels we layer on top of what is essentially real.

What is real is that the universe is consciousness and there is no such thing as "space" like we imagine and also no such thing as the limitations we imagine when we associate our ideas and understanding with our false concept of "space".

Within temporality

For example, within time if I spoke and said "Now 1" and then "5 minutes" later said "Now 2" there is a perception that time has passed between these two moments.
When I say "Now 1" there is also a perception that saying "Now 2" has not happened yet and that it will happen in some "time in the future" anew.
Same as the baseball example in it's trajectory at the start and then moving and then at the end when it lands, all of this has to be witnessed.

Our simplest definition of "god" might be "That which sees itself as what it is".

For anything to BE, and to have occurred / existed it had / did / is being witnessed by awareness, all those things / events ARE Self Awareness, looking at itself - there is nothing outside of consciousness. Eternal Self Awareness contains within itself all possibilities "fully accounted for" so that in my example above the speaking of "Now 2" has *always happened* but appears to happen anew within the changing now of temporality?

There is no future, no past, the future that seems to us as a surprise and something anew in this moment is "already lit" eternally lit, yet appears new because all choices are fully encompassed.
Being cannot be conditioned on past and present / future, nothing new can be created because the CAUSE of everything is static eternal ideation which / is/ does / did act over all time and whose beginning is contained in it's ending and whose ending is contained in it's beginning, something which our temporal brains cannot understand because of our experience of things existing temporally.

All events are as if existing on a roll of film in a film canister already completed and of itself ( eternity awareness ), when this tapes "plays" with light shining through one frame at a time this is the temporal realm where one thing follows another.

Has what caused the temporal vision or temporal loss / prevention of seeing all eternally got not to do with awareness itself but with our structure of perception as perceiving creatures in which our mind body and senses and whole structure of perception "keeps beat" in sync with change moment to moment because our mind body structure of perception is also itself within the temporal realm whereas higher levels of perception and awareness not relying on a physical mind body <> world interaction have a more fuller and encompassing awareness not restricted to the participating subjectifying reflective awareness of each perceiving creature which each subjectively reflects the whole through themselves in a participatory manner but not with full awareness above the temporal realm of perception where cause and effect do not follow one after another?

Cause and effect in the temporal realm could be said to be HOW the ETERNAL IDEAtion manifests, to eternal awareness it is wholeness but to perceiving creatures effects follows cause in sequence?

Eternal ( outside of time ) IDEAtion is the CAUSE of the whole entire manifestation of the temporal realms ( time ), the "laying or spreading out" of "Gods" eternal IDEAtion through temporal MENTAtion.

Scott

Blessings!

On an experiential level knowledge of the interplay of timeless-eternity and time-eternity is simple, it just is, but when set into mental concepts, the spin of endless thought and thinking, it becomes very complicated, even confusing.

Hello,

Yes, without any qualification we can say "It is" and just accept existence without any further elucidation.

A different or more simple way of explaining the *meaning* I am asking about above could be:

1. Since all events cannot exist without consciousness and are Self Awareness of Self there exists no event that is not a Self disclosure, so the Eternal Self disclosure contains within Itself ALL possible potential events / choices - i.e all are fully encompassed including those that in the temporal realm we have "not yet perceived"? Thus no past, no future, all is fully encompassed "already" within eternity. Or: "All events have always happened".

2. The cause of time ( changing phenomenon ) appearing as moment to moment procession temporally is not because of a limitation of awareness but because a limitation of our perceiving and as perceiving creatures our participation and structure of perception, our *whole structure of perception* being included in the "one whole object", blended seemlessly, whole acting as a unity of itself with bound up cause and affect against actionless pure awareness / consciousness?

Shalom,

If you wish to look into this subject in the language of the Holy Kabbalah there is a beautiful teaching given by Rabbi Chaim Volozhin in his wonderful work, "Nefesh HaTzimtzum." In the "Third Gateway" he takes up teachings of the Arizal on Makom/Place/Space, Tzimtzum/Concealment/Restriction and Kav/Line/Gradations of Emanation; what he shares relates directly to the interaction of eternity (God) and creation, and he includes a lovely teaching on the extent into which we may inquire with the intellect into such lofty esoteric mysteries and when intellectual inquiry needs to cease. I suspect you might enjoy what he shares. The work is published in two volumes and is available from Urim Publications through Amazon.

Hello,

Thank-you for the book recommendation.
I have never heard of the book but it sounds very interesting and am looking forward to reading the two volumes.

Kind Regards,

Scott
