#1 Postby umaara » Sun Feb 13, 2011 3:12 pm

For the past week ive been watching a movie that was made based on the book of john.I must say the Jesus of the book of john sounds very Gnostic at time.I am the bread of life.I am come down from heaven. The bread that i give you is my flesh.Mater Tau, do you consider the book of john to be Gnostic.Peace,Umaara.

Greetings -

The Gospel of St. John is deeply spiritual, and no doubt is the most mystical of the four gospels in the Bible. It has had a very strong influence on our lineage, and likely had a strong influence among other schools of spiritual Christians, or Gnostics.

The author of this gospel certainly had gnosis of Christ, that seems very clear.

Peace be with you!

He that eats of my body and drink of my blood will have eternal life and i will raise him up on the last day.Now thats Gnostic.Even in the orthodox,Catholic and Coptic mass, their is something Gnostic about the rites. The concept of the bread and the wine being turned into the body and blood has to have a Gnostic meaning to it.
