Living Within, Creating From Within

Living Within, Creating From Within

Ours is a Union of Grace in Christ, which relies upon two essential practices. The first practice is Living Within – we learn to go within, and go deeper still, and abiding within and behind the heart as the Spiritual Sun, we hold the conscious intention for the reception of the Light from above, the Mother’s Force. Receiving that Holy Light, that Holy Spirit, the second practice is a conscious surrender to the Holy Light, an active and dynamic surrender to Divine Grace, seeking to integrate our thoughts, words and actions with the Shekinah of El Elyon, the Supreme. Thus, living within we abide in communion with the Holy One, with the Messiah and Shekinah of Messiah, and we are guided by the Holy Spirit – our life flows out of the Light-presence (Messiah) and Light-power (Holy Spirit) in us.

We may speak about study and contemplation of inspired works, and of prayer, meditation and sacred ceremony, but all of these are founded upon and are the expression of living within and our conscious surrender to the Shekinah of the Elyon, the Supreme.

When we want to receive inspiration and guidance in anything we go within and open to the Light from above, and the Holy Spirit illuminates us and guides us, all according to the desire of our holy and supernal soul and the will of the Messiah and El Elyon – and so it can be when we are seeking inspiration for sacred art and creativity, going within and opening to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God will inspire and illuminate us, moving with, in and through us as a flow of creative inspiration, all according to the talents we have been given and the artistic expression to which we are inclined.

The truth is, generally speaking, this is rather like an instinctual movement for any artist – if and when inspiration does not come to them naturally and spontaneously, their impulse is to go within and open to inspiration from a deeper place in their being, and from a Higher Power, even when there is no faith or belief in God. In other words, going within to seek inspiration is innate or natural to us, and it is an innate part of the creative process – true art and creativity always comes from within, from a deeper part of our being, one that is connected to the source of all being, a Higher Power, a Divine Consciousness-Force.

Although virtually every creative person does this, it is even more powerful and effective when done with conscious intention and awareness, and even more so when done in faith, and in an active and dynamic surrender to the Divine, the Truth and Light. Indeed, as we all know from our experience with the creative process, there are many and diverse levels or gradations of creative inspiration and illumination, and if we practice going within and creating from within with full conscious intention and awareness, with time and practice we can learn to consistently invoke higher and more luminous flows of Divine Inspiration.

This is the first basic practice of the Sacred Artist in the Order of St. Haniel, and it may be no more or less complex than has been stated – going within with the conscious intention of inspiration and illumination from above. On occasions, however, when we experience a creative transition or a creative block, we can join to this practice the practice of contemplative meditation as taught in the Order of Tzafkiel, or we may draw upon practices of prayer from the Order of St. Gabriel, or we may engage in hitbodedut, secluded prayer, as taught in the tradition.

In a similar way, the Middle Pillar can be join with this practice, or a practice of Union with Partzuf – whatever might facilitate going within and the reception of creative inspiration from a deeper and higher dimension of being.

Abiding within, however, is not just a practice at the outset of the creative process, but rather it is a practice we engage throughout the creative process – in the flow of creative inspiration we seek to abide within and disappear, merging with the Holy Spirit, the Creative Spirit, letting the Light-presence and Light-power in us create and express itself.

The greatest art of any kind throughout the world comes into being in this way – there is no doer, no creator, just the doing, the creating, in a natural and spontaneous expression of being.

In this you may understand that the Way of Work or Action is integral to the Way of the Sacred Art, and is a basic practice in and of itself. At the outset, in that we are the doer, the artist, we will consecrate our creative process and artistic expression, dedicating our doing, our art, to the Holy One – creating for the Holy One, glorifying the God of our creation through our creativity. Then, in this play we may experience becoming the instrument in the hand of God, being moved by the Spirit of God, and this will become the focus of our practice; this, in turn may develop into being the vehicle of God, the Spirit of God moving within, in and through us, the perfection of which is when the Spirit of God manifests as us, and we experience a conscious union with the Holy One in this way.

At every step in this Way of Action through the creative process our sacred intention is to be a conscious agent of the Creator in the action of creation – a vehicle and emanation of the Creative Power of the Holy One.

This Way of Action is a natural movement that arises from living within and creating from within when we become open and sensitive to the Light from above, the Creative Inspiration from above.

Here we can speak an open secret – the Holy Light from above assumes many forms, all depending upon our unique essence and individuality. The healer may experience it as healing power, the seer as radiant visions and luminous dreams, and prophecy, the sage as deep insights and illumination, true knowledge, understanding and wisdom, the wonderworking as flow of wonderworking power, the sacred artist as creative inspiration – and so it goes with all of the gifts or talents and activities that might be named.

If you are called as a Sacred Artist, having the gifts of an artist, naturally the Light from above will become Creative Inspiration to you, among the many other forms it will assume in the Divine Life.

Let the Sacred Artist live within and create from within, inspired and guided by the Divine Spirit, and let them take the Way of Action in their creative process and creative expression, serving the kingdom of heaven and Ha-Shem.

Living within, surrendered to Divine Grace, may the Spirit move us so that we might let our light shine in the world. Amen.

Shalom and thanks for this reminder of what is as natural as our own breath... if we only remember each day to live more and more from this space, to go within behind our heart to the Spiritual Sun of our being. If we cultivate this space, then by grace the Holy Skekinah will fill us with inspiration and the understanding to know what to do with this inspiration, won't she ?

This creativity takes many forms, doesn't it? Not just what we typically call "art" -- but also ideas for creating new avenues for the Holy Shekinah to work and directions for spiritual outreach -- all in the dance of our Mother.

May we more and more carry this remembrance with us as true gnosis !

Shalom !

Creative Being

#3 Postby Tau Malachi » Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:34 am

Greetings and blessings in the Light of the Messiah!

We are created in the image and likeness of the Creator, and we are all co-creators with God, and as such, creativity plays a role in virtually all that we do – living in creation, inseparable from the Creator, we are creative beings.

There is something of the play of creativity on all levels, in all of its manifestations, in the teachings and practices of the Order of St. Haniel, just, as for example, there is something of the play of healing on all levels, in all of its manifestations, in the teachings and practices of the Order of St. Raphael, but the focus of the Order of St. Haniel is on the way of the sacred artist and sacred art – all different kinds of art.

Naturally, though, the teachings and practices of the way of the sacred artist and sacred art can be applied to other activities that involve creativity. The same can be said for the teachings and practices of the other ways, or other Holy Orders, as well – some of the very same methods may be applied to other activities that may involve similar movements of energy-intelligence and the Spirit.

Although the focus of the Order is on the sacred artists and sacred art – art that is most directly a vehicle of Light Transmission, the same teachings and practices can be applied to any form of artistic expression, whether apparently mundane or sacred.

First and foremost, of course, in the Order of St. Haniel we are concerned with sacred art that may serve as a vehicle to bring in, hold and anchor the influx of the Supernal Light and Divine Powers; rather like in the way of the navi, the seer, the sacred artisan is a vision-bringer for the people, revealing the hidden beauty and intelligence of the Holy One to the people.

In terms of the gifts of teaching and administration, that would correspond with a shrine within the Order of St. Tzafkiel, as teaching and administration is among the powers of Archangel Tzafkiel, and the way of administration is akin to the way of the sage.

Blessings & shalom!
