Ashmodai & the Shedim

Ashmodai & the Shedim

The Hebrew word shedim is often translated as “demons,” and Ashmodai is the “King of the Shedim,” and so is often accounted as an “arch demon” and often called “King of Demons.” This, however, is a grand blind in the Holy Kabbalah, hiding a secret mystery from tyros and the profane, for if we look into Jewish Midrashim, according to legend, King Solomon enlists the help of Ashmodai and the shedim in the building of the holy temple and in various spiritual works for the children of Israel. An arch demon and hordes of demons would not be invoked to build the holy temple of Yahweh, God forbid, and therefore we know the shedim are not demons, but rather that Ashmodai and the shedim are another kind of spirit, neither angels nor demons as these terms would be used. Rather, they are very powerful and magical spirits of a number of kinds, spirits akin to those called the “jinn” in Islam, which can serve or oppose the kingdom of heaven, and that are noted as trickster spirit and fierce spirits because of their fickle and unpredictable nature, sometimes blessing, sometimes cursing, or sometimes helpful and sometimes harmful.

Ashmodai and the shedim were invoked in the construction of the Temple of King Solomon, and so also in the play of prophecy and wonderworking enacted by King Solomon for the Community of Israel, and as such, they correspond with oath-bound wrathful spirits of the wrathful palace of the Shekinah; hence, Lilith the Younger being called the consort of Ashmodai, while Lilith the Elder is called consort of Samael, the great adversary. Thus, these are fierce spirits well known to Jewish and Christian Mekubalim, and are invoked is spiritual works of the Magical Kabbalah. They are invoked as guardian spirits of the spiritual Community of Israel, but also in various spiritual works on invisible assistance for those who are not able to receive the intercession of angels, or blessings from the angels of God.

There are many souls in this world, and especially in these dark and perverse times, that are without faith in God, or Enlightenment, and who are wounded or broken, or bound up in severe karmic vision and karmic conditions, and are not able, or are unwilling, to enter into the Holy Light and return to God. In the Sacred Heart, in love and compassion, tzaddikim and initiates will pray for such souls, and very often when there is a need for spiritual assistance they may invoke the shedim, or other oath-bound spirits of archonic realms and astral realms, to bless such lost souls and help them. This corresponds with the imparting of measured blessings, blessing in a form that they are desired and can be received, or “giving what is good to give.”

The invocation of shedim, and such spirits, is a matter of love and compassion for the living spirits themselves, for in so doing tzaddikim and initiates energetically “preach the Gospel” to the spirits and seek to gather them into the Living Body of the Messiah, laboring for their salvation, and whenever living spirits are brought into the service of the kingdom of heaven and Continuum of Light Transmission, so are they blessed and uplifted, and seeds for their eventual redemption are sown. It is a play in the wisdom of skillful means and an expression of universal salvation in Hayyah Yeshua, the Risen Messiah – pacifying, enriching and subjugating, and leading spirits in a return to God, just as souls are lead in a return to God through the Spirit of the Messiah.

This, in fact, is a significant labor of the wonderworking art, or the Magical Kabbalah, a labor of rendering spiritual assistance to all, a labor for the salvation of all living spirits and souls; and here we may remind, that even dark archons and great demons are destined for eventual salvation, if and when they repent, or return to God. Thus, great tzaddikim in the Messiah have even been known to pacify, enrich and subjugate dark archons and great demons, and in the Sacred Heart will invoke the destruction of dark and hostile forces only when there is no other way for their liberation in skillful means, and as a matter of mercy for those they assault and plague. In this regard, we may consider the great demon Legion, “the many,” who Adonai Yeshua allowed to pass into a herd of pigs, pacifying them and not destroying them. As for the death of the pigs that followed, all the souls bound up in them were freed from their sin, their karma, that drew them into incarnation as pigs, and so their death was a merciful act, liberating those souls – it was a twofold action of mercy.

There are, of course, greater oath-bound wrathful guardians within the wrathful palace, such as those great guardians that corresponds with the shadows of the Netivot, but of these it is not given to speak outside of Sacred Circle or in public – those receiving the spiritual empowerment of the wrathful palace will know their names and powers, and how they are invoked.

The wrathful palace is all a matter of skillful means for the transformation of great negativity, as well as in guardianship of the spiritual Community of Israel and Continuum of Light Transmission, and is invoked when other methods of skillful means are of no avail. The way of the wrathful palace, however, can only be taught to adept initiates who have generated the Sacred Heart, and are willing to the rite of ransom, and who are strong in the Spirit of the Lord, having full zeal for Yahweh.

As for Ashmodai and the shedim, unless an initiate is knowledgeable concerning angels of God and the spirits of righteousness, and is well established in the Threefold Sanctuary, it is unwise to call upon them or invoke them, for as has been said, they are trickster spirits, or fierce spirits, and their oath only applies to one who abides in the Sanctuary of Grace, one who cleaves to the Risen Messiah. This we may understand from the Midrashim concerning King Solomon and Ashmodai, and the many tricks Ashmodai played upon him. As we know, in the end Ashmodai and the shedim tricked Solomon into building temples to the gods of others, or false gods and goddesses, on the hills surrounding Jerusalem to appease his many gentile wives, and so they brought about the fall of Solomon and the kingdom of Israel. Melekh Messiah had not come in the time of King Solomon, and therefore, though having been wise and righteous according to the law until his great error, he did not abide in the Sanctuary of Grace, and therefore he fell under the judgment of the law.

In the Name of Yahweh Elohim, Shaddai, and Yeshua Messiah, may all living spirits and souls receive the peace of the Anointing, and may all be uplifted in the Great Resurrection and Ascension. Amen.

Thank you Tau Malachi for this blessed teaching.

I had heard about 'converting and redeeming' dark spirits before, but only from Eastern sources; like Guru Padmakara subjugating malicious spirits, and converting them into Protectors of the Teaching. So, it is a great joy to hear of this in the Holy Kabbalah too; to know that this View is an integral part of the Primordial Tradition - transcendent to cultures.

And it touches me deeply because it affirms that no soul or spirit, in any of the worlds, will be irrevocably lost. None of the sheep will be lost - and even the wolves shall become as pure lambs -- because the omnipotent tenderness of Ha Shem brings all unto Himself.

Praise Amen-Gadol, the All loving!

Boundless Compassion & Universal Salvation

#3 Postby Tau Malachi » Sat Apr 27, 2013 11:23 am

Grace and peace to you in Hayyah Yeshua!

I’m happy this teaching brings joy to your heart dear brother. In the tradition teachings on all manner of spiritual forces are woven into the teachings on the angels of God, as well as teachings on the wrathful palace and oath-bound spirits, or oath-bound guardians, all for the sake of love and compassion, and the wisdom of skillful means. On one hand there is a need for the discernment between “sheep” and “goats,” and “wolves,” or between various kinds of spirits, divine, archonic and demonic, for the relative distinction is necessary for right response and right action in skillful means. On the other hand, though, the entire play of appearances must be understood as relative and impermanent, empty of any substantial and independent self-existence, and as such, it must be understood that radical change, conversion or transformation, is possible, and even destined. The underlying essence and nature of all is the same, the source or foundation of all is the same, and therefore in the realization of essence and nature, and the recognition of innate unity with source or foundation, the potential exists for the salvation of all, or the enlightenment and liberation of all, for in truth Divine Being, or Enlightened Being, is the essence and nature of all, the foundation of all (Kol).

The very nature of the Sacred Heart, or love and compassion, is the awareness of universal salvation, and within every wisdom tradition that has teachings on primordial enlightenment, so we find teachings on the conversion and salvation of all manner of living spirits and souls – universal enlightenment and liberation. Granted, there is a swift path, medium path and long path to this realization or enlightenment, and for some spirits and souls, or sentient beings, it may be a very long journey through countless and diverse incarnations, but nevertheless the divine or enlightened nature of all, and the unique essence or spark of all, will eventually be realized, and each spirit or soul will experience their liberation, the Great Ascension or Great Transformation.

There are various passages in the Holy Scriptures from which such teachings may be drawn. Perhaps one of the most stunning and beautiful occurs in Isaiah 11, after a revelation concerning the coming of the Messiah and the powers of the Sacred Circle in the Messiah, where it is written: “The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den. They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge [da’at] of the Lord [Yahweh] as the waters cover the sea” (6-9). This, of course, is taken in the Holy Kabbalah as a teaching of universal salvation or redemption, the various kinds of creatures indicating all manner of living spirits and souls becoming enlightened in the Spirit of the Messiah, the Da’at of Yahweh.

Concerning the witness of those who have received the Spirit of the Messiah, Adonai Yeshua says something very interesting according to the Gospel of St. Mark. “And these are the signs that will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover” (16:17-18). In our Christian Kabbalah this is taken as a teaching of skillful means in the conversion of all manner of spiritual forces, the play of pacification, enrichment, subjugation and destruction.

There is something more that may be said concerning the destruction of dark and hostile forces, if and when there is no other way in skillful means. Essentially, it is a movement of radical transformation, and while the form, or a particular manifestation of a spirit or soul is destroyed, the energy-intelligence, or light-power, of that spirit or soul is not destroyed, but continues on, and the true essence and nature of that spirit or soul remains unchanged. Basically speaking, the spirit or soul-stream is liberated to move on, released from a very severe bondage to negativity or evil, and given the opportunity for an evolution and new incarnation. If and when this is done by tzaddikim or maggidim, their intention is not “eternal damnation” or any such thing, but rather, within and behind this action they will pray and render spiritual assistance in transition, seeking to heal and uplift that spirit or soul, seeking to facilitate a spiritual conversion and evolution (or tikkune). Thus, even the most severe action is not what it seems on the surface, but rather is a manifestation of great mercy, an expression of love and compassion. Naturally, though, this most severe action is a last resort in the Sacred Heart, for pacification, enrichment or subjugation can lead to a swifter redemption or realization, and the swift cessation of sorrow and suffering is always the desire of the Sacred Heart.

There is something to be said of this play of skillful means among initiates in the Second Coming of Christ in Glory, for when the Christ-Spirit “touches down,” and specifically the Supernal Force, Supernal Light, there is a greater manifestation of this divine action of the Holy Shekinah, and the peaceful, blissful and wrathful palace within the Living Body, the Community. In that there is a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and specifically as the Supernal Force, and more and more individuals and communities are receiving this Anointing, so this Divine Action is increasing; and as we gaze into the world we can see the great needs for it, as both the Holy Light and the Darkness are intensifying and becoming amplified in the midst of what is potentially a great progress or evolution of consciousness in humanity and this world. Quite literally, a conscious labor for the conversion of spiritual forces seems very essential to us, and naturally we have a deep appreciation and resonance with those wisdom traditions that teach and practice this, such as Dzogchen and Vajrayana, certain schools of Sufism, and the like. In fact, we believe that there are many tzaddikim and maggidim incarnating in these times with a great capacity for this Divine Action, and through our own spiritual life and practice it is our intention to engage this Divine Action, participating in it and supporting it; hence, we seek to strengthen Divine Action these tzaddikim and maggidim, and so we co-labor with them.

In this regard, it is very interesting, for having a great vision of these times, Tau Miriam engaged in a radical transformation of our Christian Kabbalah, our teachings and practices, following her experience of Supernal Realization in the late nineteenth century, shifting the lineage from what was a more typical Western Esoteric Order to the lineage and tradition as it is today, one that does tend to resonate very strongly with Eastern Wisdom Traditions. To the best of my knowledge, Miriam was not familiar with Dzogchen or Vajrayana in her lifetime, and yet, in a manner of speaking, the body of teachings and practices she wove could rightly be called a “Vajrayana of the West,” or a “Christian Vajrayana,” if you will; very much so. Tau Elijah, then, continued this spiritual labor after her, continuing to develop and evolve the Christian Kabbalah of our lineage and the play of Light Transmission in it. Our vision of a “Gnostic Apostolic Succession” is very much like the vision of the lineages of Mahasiddhas in Vajrayana; what’s meant by the term “Gnostic Apostle” is much the same.

For some time I had contemplated not passing on the teachings and practices of the wrathful palace, having various concerns regarding them in this generation; however, with the sharing of teachings from our oral tradition about the angels, it is an integral part of those teachings, and the Mother Spirit inspires a the sharing of what can be shared openly about the wrathful palace, along with the peaceful and blissful array. It is a matter of the full range of skillful means, and the teaching of boundless compassion in a labor for universal salvation, such as revealed in the Gospel of the Second Coming, as well as in the passage from Isaiah I’ve quoted above.

There is a need for a full manifestation of Crazy Wisdom in Light Transmission in as many places, and in as many forms, as possible, and this is especially true in the West.

Messiah Shalom!
