Seth in the Zohar

#1 Postby +David » Sat Mar 01, 2014 4:30 am

Dear Elder Brother

I read today that it is said that late in life, Adam gave Seth secret teachings that would become the Kabbalah.

And The Zohar (136:b) refers to Seth as "ancestor of all the generations of the tzaddikim".

How might we come to understand this in the light Yeshua as Seth Gadol? Is it referring to Messianic consciousness as the 'seed' that generates all tzaddkim, so to speak?

Shalom on this Shabbat eve

Grace and peace to you from Yahweh Elohim, Shaddai, and from Yeshua Messiah!

According to Midrashim and the Holy Kabbalah, at the outset there was discord between Adam and Havvah (Eve), and when they embraced one another their love for one another was partial and incomplete, and therefore they did not couple in the proper way, the fullness of love and righteousness. On account of this, the image and likeness of Yahweh Elohim was impaired and they could not conceive a son in the image and likeness of “Adam” – a human being, but rather the spirit of the Other Side entered and klippot, impure emanations, were attached to the souls of Cain and Abel. In Midrashim and the Zohar it is said that Havvah coupled with the serpent (Nechash) to conceive Cain, and it is said that Abel was conceived from and improper coupling of Adam and Havvah; thus, neither son was the image and likeness of Adam, neither was a true human being – spiritual human being.

Look and see! According to the Zohar, and Gnostic Scripture, there are three “races” of humankind bestial or material, faithful or psychic, and the spiritual, the elect, or tzaddikim. Cain corresponds with the bestial, Abel with the faithful, and Seth corresponds with the spiritual – tzaddikim.

When Cain slew Abel and was sent into exile, driven to wander the earth for his sin of murder, in their grief Adam and Havvah opened their hearts to one another, and they returned to Ha-Shem, and they joined together in the fullness of love and righteousness, and Seth came into being, the first spiritual human being – true humanity, whose soul was able to merge with the soul of Adam Ha-Rishon (Supernal Adam), and therefore the first Son of Adam, the image and likeness of Adam – a true human being, tzaddik. From him arises spiritual humanity, all tzaddikim, such as Enoch, Abraham, Moses and so on, the spiritual Community of Israel – all who seek to return to the Holy One, and who draw near to the Holy One, and seek to unify with Yahweh Elohim.

The spirit of the Other Side was in Cain, and the soul of Able was also corrupted by klippot, the angels of archons, and therefore Adam would not teach them the way of the Holy Kabbalah, for it is forbidden to teach Kabbalah to the wicked or the unfit. Adam saw his image and likeness in Seth, however, and therefore saw in Seth the image and likeness of Yahweh Elohim, and he saw the Holy Shekinah rested upon Seth and that he was righteous, tzaddik, so Adam taught and initiated Seth, and received him in The Name (Ha-Shem).

In this we understand, while a mekubal can teach general principles of the Holy Kabbalah openly, and God will be the judge of souls who take from those teachings, they cannot initiate, receive and give revelation to the wicked or unfit, but rather only to those they see the Shekinah resting upon, those who have true faith and love, or the awe and love of Yahweh, and Compassion. Thus, they must see the Holy Shekinah, or the Holy Light and Spirit, with an aspirant in order to impart the Light Transmission to them.

There are three races in humankind, and in general mekubalim seek out souls of the spiritual elect – spiritual human beings, those ripe and mature for harvest who have a passionate desire to return to God. These they teach and initiate, and receive, allowing them to draw close, and so take up the play of Light Transmission and revelation of the Body of Glory with them, facilitating the awakening and ascension of souls.

Listen and hear, and understand! In the Gospel of St. Philip we are taught that the Messiah came for his own – the spiritual elect; but in the Great Mercy of El Elyon, the Supreme, he also came to ransom some and to purchase some, uplifting souls from among faithful and bestial humankind through his self-offering on the cross. As with all the great tzaddikim, those who were his own he drew close, into his inner circle and the covenant of knowledge, and those from among the faithful and bestial humankind he gathered into his outer circle and the covenant of faith, and through the Spirit of the Messiah, the outer and inner circles were joined as one Living Body, all souls gathered being set upon the Path of Return, uplifted in the Great Ascension.

Thus, while mekubalim seek out those who are spiritual to teach and initiate, tzaddikim who are anointed with the Spirit of the Messiah also reach into faithful and bestial humanity to uplift souls in return to God – to set them on the Path of Return; hence, they labor for the salvation of all, enacting the Will of the Compassionate One, the Mercy of El Elyon, the Supreme.

If an aspirant has a sincere desire to return to God, and they open their heart and mind to the Holy Light and Spirit of the Messiah, generating faith and devotion, so they may be reborn from above and become spiritual, a son or daughter of the Light, or the Living God.

This assumes, though, faith and love, and cleaving – devekut.

This labor of the harvest of souls, however, is also a great battle, or holy war, not against blood and flesh, but against the spiritual forces of the klippot, the archons and demons, for in general, bestial and faithful humankind is plagued with these, and become vehicles or channels of these unwittingly, and to draw souls in return to God requires the wisdom of skillful means and Divine Grace; hence, the offering of the Lamb of God as ransom and a price paid.

Cleaving to the Risen Messiah – Seth Gadol, souls resemble Seth, spiritual humanity; but this assumes confession and repentance, and tikkune, turning away from the Other Side and returning to God, the True Light.

The ransom and the price paid, these come into effect through faith and devotion, and cleaving – devekut.

Now, contemplating the three races of humankind we must understand that, in truth, these correspond with three gradations in the evolution of souls entering into the human life-wave, within which there are, in fact, countless gradations of evolution. Thus, these are gradations, or stages, in the development and evolution of each and every soul, and these three “races” are not as separate and distinct as they might seem in provisional teachings. They are interconnected and overlap, and the evolution of souls through them is not so linear and sequential as it might seem; hence, the capacity of anointed tzaddik to reach into bestial and faithful humanity in the Spirit of the Messiah and uplift them into spiritual humanity and return to God.

As the Zohar teaches, all tzaddikim come from the line of Seth, and the purpose of all tzaddikim is the embodiment of the Holy Light and Spirit of the Messiah – the Perfect Tzaddik, Seth Gadol. As we know, this perfection of the Son of the Human One (Seth) was realized in Yeshua Messiah, and was revealed in Hayyah Yeshua, the Risen Messiah.

Listen and hear, and understand! In the Messiah there is the emergence of a new humanity, and the creation of new heavens and a new earth, and so the Messiah is called the Great Seth (Seth Gadol), and the Second Adam (Bet Adam). Thus, in the Messiah a fourth “race” comes into being in the human life-wave on earth, one that is more than “human,” more than spiritual – a supernal and divine humanity, Christed humanity.

According to the tradition, this humanity comes into being when the Second Adam and Second Havvah enter into a perfect embrace; hence, the Risen Messiah and the Magdalene, the Apostle of Apostles, the conception and birth of Anointed Tzaddikim.

All tzaddikim come from the line of Seth, and the generation of this New Humanity has been their mission, and continues to be their mission; this New Humanity is, in fact, indicated by the name Seth, Shin-Tau.

First, these are the last two letters of the Alef-Bet, and indicate perfection and completion, and they indicate the full embodiment of the Holy Light and Spirit of the Infinite One. Shin is fire, and is the essential letter representing the Supernal Shekinah, and Tau is the cross, representing incarnation, embodiment, and so we may understand in this name the Light of the True Cross – Messiah; this corresponds with conscious unification with the One, the Supreme, or enlightenment and liberation.

Second, these two letters equal 700, and this number indicates the seven interior stars within a human being manifest in full glory and power, the serpent power uplifted through them into repose in the brow and crown; this corresponds with the dawn of Supernal or Messianic Consciousness, the consciousness through which unification with the One transpires.

These are some teachings I can share in an initial contemplation of this mystery.

May we be blessed with the Da’at of Seth Gadol, the perfect knowledge of God in union. Amen.

Yahweh Shalom!

Thank you Tau Malachi for these profound insights.

Some of the masters of Sufism have said that Seth was the very first Sufi, and a prophet in the time of Adam and Havvah.

They call him: Shith 'alayhi as-salam - (but - despite my attempts with 'Google Translator' -I don't yet know how this translates).

Shabbat Shalom

Blessings to you!

If you consider the little bit shared concerning Ahiyah Ha-Shiloni, the secret Heart Tzaddik of the Baal Shem Tov, one cannot help but ponder what is said of this Sufi Master and wonder if it might be the same soul-stream appearing in two lineages of Light Transmission, for these two are said to be teachers of inmost secret mysteries to great tzaddikim or masters, and with both there are stories, legends, of them as "immortals," having knowledge of eternal life.

Shabbat Shalom!
